Sorry if this was answered - i could not find it in any of the write ups on it. I recall that the facility will probably be named after the biggest donor (a-la the "Burton" family), but what about the individual courts? Would they name those after Calhoun and Auriemma? It certainly would avoid the possible battle of naming the court at Gampel after one of them (I imagine the men's program has made more $ for the university, but the women's program has been more successful)...

idk if this is just me but if i was to donate a crazy amount of money like that, i would not want any part of the building named after me nevermind the entire facility itself. To be honest with you i dont know why some of these things are even on the list as an option for naming rights. I know the court at Gampel is a sore subject when it comes to naming that for Calhoun/Geno. I think it should be named after Calhoun but i could see and respect the point of view from the Geno supporters. Now with this practice facility both coaches can be recognized the right way. Name the mens part of the building after Calhoun and the womens part after Geno. When it comes to the facility itself id like to just see the words UCONN STUDENT ATHLETE AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER just like it reads in the plans. Sure thats great if somebody gives 10 million but they dont have anything to do with the on court success over the years.

Look, if someone gives $10,000,000 for a freaking basketball practice facility, they can put their name on it, run around it naked, have bourbon-n-hooker night parties in it, whatever. Want a bronzed relief of your junk in the lobby? We can talk about that for another million.

And not to dent your idealism, but the cats who write these checks and give UConn the ability to fight this athletic department arms race that's been going on have quite a bit to do with the on-court success.

Harry Gampel has won some games for us.

i always kinda dreamed that some die hard who has burton type money would put the big check up or the nba guys would put together and in the end name the place "jim calhoun pf...". it prob won't happen but its always been a hope of mine as a legacy thing.

another cool thing would be the person who writes that check get a locker in the gym and gets to use it when ever. that would be cool.

If it wasn't for Jim Calhoun the women's program would not have had the success it has had. No football upgrade either.
