In a discussionwith a co-worker yesterday, a big UConn fan (BS) as well as Ohio State (MS), he feared that if Louisville was selected, it means that every team that had/has a possitive football image (nationally) has left the BE.

He asked......in the recruiting world, what highly regarded athlete in the northeast would select UConn (BE) over BIG (Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland) or ACC ( Pitt, Syracuse, BC, et al.) as the makeup of the various leagues stand at 8:00 AM this Wednesday.

He even mentioned that media in the mid west are suggesting that with the "rapid decline" of the BE as a football conference, and perhaps now even defection of "western BE" teams, MAC fans feel they will be the top conference in the "little five" for the sixth BCS bowl spot.

I'm afraid he may be right about one thing, recruiting for UConn is going to become significantly harder.

The answer is simple ... Ones that don't have other offers. Uconn is screwed and we just have to deal with it or stop caring. The program will not keep $$ wise so facilities will start to fall behind for both bball and football and recruits with other offers both bball and football will simply not pick playing in the joke conference over the super conferences.

Bball ... Tulare, temple, ecu, central Florida, Houston, SMU, st johns, depaul, providence, villinova, cinci, Georgetown, Marquette (who's excited?!)

Vs

Duke, unc, Cuse, Pitt, nd, wake forest, Louisville, etc

Football wise forget it

Its already been harder to recruit for UConn football. Back to the Colonial Conference for the Dogs. ESPN needs to pay and pay a big price for having screwed Connecticut throughout all this. They have absolutely been the poorest of community members. We need to have the State Police pull over every big name personality that attempts to enter or leave the premises. Lee Corse, Chris Fowler and Kirky should be enjoined from the State of Connecticut should ESPN ever find the need to have them on site.

Punish ESPN and punish ct... Too many jobs and too much tax revenue would be lost

Probably would have been a lot of revenue coming in if UConn could get into a decent conference. It is reprehensible that ESPN has done nothing to help CT. They should feel the wrath of this state's legislature for a long time to come.

Setting fire to ESPN will do CT about the same amount of good that suing a BCS and the ACC did. Uconn has enough black marks against it as it is.

And being silent and nice about this has helped how? Now UConn isn't even in a good basketball conference anymore.

I'm not disagreeing. It bothers me aas much as you... Can't get over the fact that ville came out of no where to beat us to acc. I think BC BLOCKED US AGAIN. Uconn should have not sued the acc in that case doing nothing would have probably helped. The ACC went from fsu at #97 for schools to now adding Louisville at #165 ... Yes #165.

Honestly . . . how little political currency does our state have? This whole conference realignment/television pimped BS needs to be checked. College sports has become an elitist joke and I for one would love to see the Federal Gov start to get involve - " in the best interest of the game".
