What are some TV shows that are no longer on the air, but that you miss dearly?

Some of mine:

Breaking Bad- Seasons 3 and 4 (especially featuring Gustavo Fring) were unforgettable.

The Wire- This will take you right back to "Ballmer, Merlin":

The Simpsons- throughout the 1990s, anyway. I couldn't watch what ran in the previous decade and thereafter. Is it even on still?

Life Goes On- Remember Corky?

LA Law- cool show for a time back in the day.

What are some others? This could be a fun thread.

Hoppalong Cassidy, especially with Gabby Hayes.

I was going through M*A*S*H on Netflix last fall. Got midway through season 2. Went to watch more and found that it left Netflix. Sad day.

Currently re-watching The O.C. and Skins (not the terrible US remake, obv).

Bought MASH for $45 (+$5 shipping) from Amazon UK last year.
Complete series with the movie. The only problem is the space to store the DVDs.

Breaking Bad, without doubt, not only the greatest TV show ever, but IMHO the greatest extensive artistic presentation since Richard
Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen
.

The Simpsons is definitely still on.

If enjoy(ed) The Simpsons, you might enjoy Futurama, which is from the same people but set in the year 3000.

Shows I miss:

Arrested Development
Veronica Mars
My So-Called Life
Better Off Ted
Iron Chef (not the American version with Alton Brown but the Japanese one with subtitles)

Skins was so interesting in that the characters were completely (and, I suppose, literally) foreign to me. It was, in a way, like watching Mad Men.

And the US remake was horrendous :D

1) Breaking Bad without a doubt.

2) The Wire

3) 24

4) Game Of Thrones. I heard it's coming back on though.

5) Pro sports without the constant check-me-out narcissism. Though I've heard that's never coming back.

6) Iron chef. The first show that really showed me that cooking was as fun as eating.

7) Weekly Jai-alai on TV. The worlds most dangerous game.

In case people aren't aware, Skins was a teen drama about lower-middle class non-achievers.

If you have a multi-region DVD/BD player, you can buy the following from Amazon UK.
Some of these you can watch free on youtube.

1. All creatures great and small (about $30-35 often + shipping)
2. The voyages of Charles Darwin (I strongly recommend this)
3. In search of the dark ages (Michael Wood's debut)
4. David Attenborough complete DVD (not BD) - very cheap around $60 (or less). Everything he did starting from Life on Earth.
This is an incredibly good deal.
5. Yes Minister and Yes PM
6. Fawlty towers
7. Keeping up appearances
8. Disraeli
9. Charles Dickens' England (Derek Jacobi as Narrator)
10. Die Nibelungen (4hr+ Fritz Lang Classic 1923 - I got for about $12)
11. Godfather complete (Complete series BD for about $12)
12. As time goes by

I bought some when they are on sale. Others are cheap all year.

The Irish RM is cheaper on Amazon than on Amazon UK.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles was a great series that ended before its time.

Agreed. A fine show. But many of the existential issues such as what it means to be human, what is society, culture, government, family, what is humane; if you take away one or any combination do any of the other exist or matter; these were taken up by The Walking Dead. TWD's people though have to resolve and reconfigure these issues and themselves on a minute by minute basis. TWD shows how some people just cannot handle this kind of protean existence.

The animated Star Wars: Clone Wars dealt with this vis a vis clones through out the series in a surprisingly deep and sophisticated way given that it was an animated show mostly aimed at kids.

Agreed again. What I like about TWD though is how the characters must make their existential choices and decisions in a hostile world gone sideways. How those before the event who were A type personalities may or may not be able to survive, while B types may suddenly come to the fore. How, or course, if there is no society can there still be family, are you still human, can there be government etc? On and on in its permutations, and how again the characters must re-formulate on a minute by minute basis where decisions could mean the loss of life, family, humanity etc. Harrowing.
