What is the point of coming out and saying Michael Phelps isn't the greatest Olympian ever? Such a jerkoff thing to say, trying to take the shine off someone who has been so dominant while he's performing in his final games. Not only is it just not the place or time to say something like this but the only other athletes he mentions that might be the best Olympians ever are a couple of Brits, one is a rower who won 5 golds whose name escapes me and Daley Thompson who won two Decathlons. Of course there can always be a debate on who is the best Olympian ever but to come out and say it now is classless.

Sebastian Coe is not very well liked in the UK. This is one example as to why.

I got a kick out of this:

Go to 1 minute mark for Coe mention, and then again at the very end.

He did mention a number of iconic foreign olympians... But mentioning Brits at all... Is pretty weak... Though I do agree that most medals does not equal greatest olympian, it's very sport dependent how many you can possibly win.

I am not a phelps fan, but he is ridiculous and definitely in the conversation of top five ever

He may not be the best, but nobody has ever dominated their sport like Michael Phelps. And the book isn't closed on him, either. If I remember correctly he has 3 more events to go? Before these Olympics are over he could very well have more gold medals than anybody has ever won total medals. Just needs 2.

I wonder if he will be back in 2016. He has pretty much accomplished everything he can, but then again he will turn 31 just before they start.

    Google Alexsandr Karelin :)

I'm not arguing one way or another, but a case could be made for Carl Lewis, Jesse Owens, etc. for greatest Olympian. There are a lot more events one can participate in in Swimming.

Yup. But I do kind of feel his success is somewhat inflated considering 9,000 swimming medals are handed out every Olympics while other sports may only have one. And apparently I was too stupid to see that Phelps said himself this was his last Olympics.
