Tough season for Arizona already. Ray Smith out, eligibility rumors about Allonzo Trier and Chance Comanche suspended indefinitely for academic reasons.

I read this about Smith on Twitter. Tough break for the kid. I hope he can come back and be ok. Seems like a well grounded young man.

Damn I remember all three of those names from 2015 recruiting (which seems like forever ago), especially Comanche. Hate to hear they're all having tough times, especially Smith

man, I had just mentioned him in a Duham thread a few weeks ago about another player to track to see how they bounced back from multiple ACL tears

This is my fear with Durham, hopefully Ollie brings him along EXTRA slow. Let him build his core and lower body in the weight room, he seems to have a better frame than any other incoming big we've had not including Enoch.

I feel terrible for Ray. But reading his letter he's obviously a high character kid that will be successful in something else.

He had just tweeted two days ago about how excited he was to play in his first college game. Now his career is over. Can't even imagine how hard that must be, especially given how talented he was.

The letter is definitely worth the read. You can't do that sort of thing better than what he did - I admire the perspective, but nobody will blame him if he's depressed for a while after this. I hope everything turns out for the best.

What a great kid and such a sad story.

Thoughts go out to Durham as well. Must be hard to listen to this news for Durham, and it has to be in his head now more than ever. Really need to tread lightly with Juwan this year.

Is Arizona going to honor his scholarship?

I hope man. Would be a classless move to do otherwise.

Injuries, while part of the game, are tragic, especially to such young people
These ACL tears are devastating. One is bad enough but multiple is crazy
I've coached soccer for over 20 yrs at a very high level and just hated to see the young folks have these career ending experiences
Academic and eligibility issues are a different animal and unless a kid got blatantly screwed, I have little sympathy
I really hope this 19 yo man finds happiness and success
