Thanks - I remembered that the stat was pretty crazy. Of course they have usually played as the #1 team in those match ups but as I recall they are like 8-1 as the #2 team while no other team has a winning record as the #2.

Just thought I would check some stats based on this site: AP Women's Basketball Number 1 vs Number 2 - College Poll Archive - Historical College Football and Basketball Polls and Rankings

According to their records (AP poll only) Uconn is 7-1 when ranked #2 and 15-2 when ranked #1. Baylor is the only team to beat them as the #1 ranked, and TN and ND are the two teams to beat #1 Uconn as the #2 ranked team.
In total there have been 60 such games and Uconn has played in 25 of them or 42%. The record for the #1 seed is 37-23 for a 62% win rate. Uconn's win rate as the #1 is 88.2% and as the #2 seed is 87.5%.
Some other notable teams:
Tenn - overall 10-12, as the #1 ranked 5-5 and as the #2 5-7
Stan - 1-7, as #1 1-2
ND - 2-6, as #1 1-2
Bay - 3-1, as #1 3-0
Duke - 2-5, as #1 2-3
SC - 0-4 as a #1 0-2 (3 losses to Uconn and one loss dates back to LaTech in 82 when LaTech was the #1
La Tech - 9-4 as #1 5-1, as #2 4-3 - last victory 90 season, last game 98 season both as a 2 seed against TN.
Old Dominion 4-2 as a #1 4-0 All games 82 season and earlier.
USC 2-2, as a #1 1-2 as a #2 1-0 All games 83 and 84 seasons.

NB - I corrected the original post on Duke's record in 1 v 2 should have been 3-3, as #1 2-3.
