Not sure where to post this, so I created a new thread. Sometime in the past couple weeks the state put up new signs prior to the exit 68 off ramps of 84 east/west replacing the old signs with the most recent championships won by UConn sports. Finally got a decent pic, so I figured I share.

Yeah, saw it on Friday when I was down in Connecticut. I thought it was pretty cool. Although hard to read it all going by at 75 mph. I figured they did it because it was too costly to change the sign after every championship. Now they just have to change a number. Unless a new team besides men's bball, women's bball, soccer and field hockey win a national championship.

with the rate at which we win championships, this should have only been an electronic sign that they could update with the entering of a password (something like 4-8-15-16-23-42) and the push of a button in a hatch on a mysterious island somewhere.

Is that the best they could do graphically? It's a crowded mess. Just putting the team name on the same line as the number of championships would make it far more readable.

That said, I'm glad of the switch from the old format of only recognizing the most recent championships.

[FWIW I beleive that the 1948 soccer natty wasn't NCAA, it was NCSAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America.)]

If Kentucky can claim a fake football national title then we can take one for soccer
Lol, but ours is real. It just predates the NCAA.

Nope, it is a real one.

The 1948 UConn men's soccer team, under head coach John Squires, posted a perfect 11-0 record and was named the national champion by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Stuart Johnson and Merritt Baldwin were both All-American performers that year. The team beat such schools and teams as Yale, Tufts, UMass, MIT and Fort Devens - but had to wait until February of 1949 before it was officially voted the national champion.

Old timers should recognize the building where the pic was taken.:):):)
84 west bound before it was paved?? Because I doubt they'd recognize my car:rolleyes:;).
