As I do each year, I chart the schedules for all P5 teams, plus the American, BE and RU / AZ opponents not in those conferences. I also look at the coaches, and here's the "interesting" (I hope to some of you) facts I note:

- In the P5, there are only 5 new coaches (8%) and 7 folks coaching at their alma mater (11%). Although statistically similar for the other 3 groups, it should be noted that 4 of 10 Big East coaches are alumni, by far the highest percentage of the 7 conferences and one grouping.

- While 74% of the P5 coaches previously coached another D1 school, only 25% of the BE / American / lower conference opponents (18 teams, by the way) previously coached at another D1 school. For previous head coaching experience at any level (including high school, other divisions, men) the percentages increase to 83% in the P5 and 45% in the others; however, while only 9% of P5 coaches were assistants elsewhere, 45% of the other schools were.

- Approximately 66% of head coaches are female in the schools I looked at, excluding the Big East, where 9 of the 10 schools have a male head coach. I wonder if this is at all related to the fact that these are Catholic schools, although the arguement against that is the many other Catholic schools, including Notre Dame, that have female HC's.

- There are 14 coaches in the P5 that have won over 500 games, and 23 (about a third) that have been at their school for at least 10 years. 86% of the coaches have a winning record, so in closing I will "highlight" the coaches with losing records:
Matt Insell, Ole Miss (58-68)
Stephanie White, Vanderbilt (14-16 in first season)
Erik Johnson, Boston College (and Denver) (133-144)
Audra Smith, Clemson (and UAB) (179-220)
Jen Hoover, Wake Forest (and High Point) (94-100)
Reagan Pebley, TCU (+ Fresno St and Utah State where she started the program from scratch) (204-222)
Candi Whittaker. Texas Tech (and UMKC) (131-168)
Adia Barnes, Arizona (14-16 in first season)
JR Payne, Colorado (also Santa Clara & So. Utah) (118-129

You can contribute to 86% of P5 coaches having a Winning Record due to most having PATHETIC OOC Schedules. How many teams have 10-12 Wins after their OOC Schedule and then end up with a losing record in conference play.
