When the Red Bulls have failed to even capture the Tri-state market, how could they reasonably be justified as a "national" MLS brand? If anything, they've been pretty much a below average club and nothing brand as the Metro Stars and under Red Bull-direction alike. Is there any national MLS brand? Not in these eyes, but perhaps others see or can justify the existence of a national MLS brand.
Fair point, I just shooting out MLS names most likely to be recognized across the country, of which I think Red Bulls are one.

Seattle and LA would seem to me to be the two most visible franchises nationally. Kansas City I'd put third.

So what does this Miami Stadium deal do to the prospects of a NASL club in Miami. There's no way they'll support one club, let alone two....maybe NASL will back out? Would be nice for the possible Hartford club.....

2 Miami clubs? Medium term? Long-term? Hmmm ...

Beckham United building their own, city-tentatively approved stadium site in the crummy ex-Orange Bowl location versus Paolo Maldini's media-connected, NASL club renting an existing Miami area stadium.
With no insight on stadium expenses, transportation, parking, etc. for either clubs' stadium nor the latter NASL stadium's location, speculating may be challenging. Advantage?

Global media consortium-backed Miami FC targets a 2016 kickoff, so they may have an initial head start versus Beckham United which (i) still has not disclosed specific-stadium plans let alone obtained formal stadium approval yet (ii) potentially will share MLS television, advertising, and other revenues.

And if you're interested. Here is what every player in the league makes. If you're not LA, it seems that it pays to spread your money around.

I was shocked to see Dallas at the top of the table. But I guess they have been winning league games. We crushed them in the USOC 6-2 and and in league 4 to something.
The standings are a bit nutty at the moment.

http://www.mlssoccer.com/standings

The 6th place team in the west would be in 2nd place in the east.

The top six in the west have a bit of separation with the bottom four.

KC has the highest points per game with 4 games in hand. But with three games in 7 days I think Sporting will probably slow down after tomorrow night.
But this is a moneyball league if such a thing exists in soccer.

Seems to confirm that Red bulls inc & the rest of the Red Bulls management teams maybe looking to sell. Can't think of any NYC based professional team that is at the bottom of spending in their sport - Yankees, Rangers, Knicks, Nets, Giants & Jets.

Of, Mets, too :)

They just missed on James McLean that they were competing with West Bromwich Albion over. They made him a 1.5 mil offer. They also have been trying to sign Shaun Wright-Phillips.

I think they have migrated away from the Thierry Henry type signing and are looking to have more quality across the entire roster. Also they are trying to maximize their Academy and have more local players on the team to build a better connection to the community.

NASL has a really low bar to clear. If they can pull in 5-10,000 fans a game they will be a resounding success. Pretty sure they will be a tenant at either FIU or FAU. Maybe play some really big friendlies in the Orange Bowl that Paolo Maldini will orchestrate.

Beckham United, (hope that's not the name) has a really high bar to clear. In order for a Miami expansion team to work they will need to do everything perfectly. They need big names and a winning team early. They need to be Orlando City good out of the gate. And a big reason Orlando has been good early on is that they existed for several years as a USL team and they already had a staff and structure in place.

I wonder if they will out-draw the Marlins, who are currently #28 of 30 MLS teams in 2015 at 21,700 per game.

Boston just pulled out of the 2024 Olympic bid, which means the Revs will not get the downsized maim stadium in 2026 as their new home and now Kraft has to find some one else to build him a soccer stadium.

With the demise of the 2024 Boston Olympic bid, I thought the talk of a new stadium for the Revs would be dead too. Thus, was pleasantly surprised to read this story. looks like someone is getting serious about a new stadium brining Goldman Sachs on board. The same private firm that helped Kraft build Gillette and New York City get new Yankee Stadium and Citi Field done. Will be interesting to see how it develops as public financing of sporting events/stadiums is a toxic issue right now.

By the way... a little weird to see that one of the tabs at the top of nesn.com is for Liverpool FC. I know there's cross promotion with the Sox etc... wonder what it'd be like to be an Everton supporter from England, coming over to visit Boston or live there for grad school of something, and bam.
