Anyone have a handle on how many times the same school has done both Conf Chips in a given year (Big East and elsewhere)? How many of those are UConn?

Trying to save myself alot of tedious research if someone already has the info.

I don't have the info - but would expect UConn to be the leader.

I researched one school as I felt they were probably a frequent winner on both sides - Gonzaga. They have had 9 seasons where both schools have won tournament championships, all between 2007 and 2022; the men have won a huge number - over 20. The women not so much, but Gonzaga men have won so frequently that it often becomes a double year when the women win.

I watched a YouTube clip yesterday where John Fanta interviewed several of the players as well as Hurley. On more than one occasion Storrs was called the basketball capitol, and I think it was Karraban (sp?) who said the men have some catching up to do with the women for number of championships.

BballFan is spot on. There’s a lot of similarities between the Hurley men and the Auriemma women in their approach to the game. Unselfish, high IQ, very high assist rate. I’ve enjoyed watching them.

According to wiki the men have won the conference tourney 9 times in the following years:
1990, 1996*, 1998*, 1999*, 2002*, 2004, 2011*, 2016* (Am), 2024*

And they have won the regular season 11 times in:
1990*, 1994*, 1995*, 1996*, 1998*, 1999*, 2002*, 2003*, 2005, 2006, 2024*

And every year the men won one or other the women did too so the total is 14 if you count either reg or tourney titles. (7 tourney title sweeps and 9 regular season sweeps.)
1990*, 1994*, 1995*, 1996*, 1998*, 1999*, 2002*, 2003*, 2004*, 2005*, 2006*, 2011*, 2016*, 2024*

The * represent women's championships corresponding to the men's - two stars mean both reg and tourney, one means only one. The women won the regular season every year the men did except for 2005 and 2006, and the tourney every time except 1990 and 2004. They have combined for five sweeps of all four in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2024

NB Didn't included men's Yankee conference titles as they date back to pre - women's team days and ECAC tournament wins date to the dark days of the early women's team (1976, 1979)

On Edit: ** seems to change to * and italics when posted so changed to BLUE for women's doubles

The NCAAs brought me back to the men last year, even though the one and done is still strong.

Dan has converted me to watching the men as well. I don’t love the way the mens game is played most of the time but Dan has them playing true team ball. It is fun to watch!
Who would have thought 30 or 40 years ago that the UConn men playing like girls would be a great compliment.
