Thomas has been with FGCU since 2010, so she is very, very familiar with the program.

Plus, in terms of shooting fundamentals, she would be great to work with guards on form, technique, and release (especially since she changed her footwork setup into her release in college, under Geno's tutelage).

First side note...FGCU Head Coach Karl Smesko grew up in Ohio, as did Mel Thomas.
Second side note...FGCU redshirt junior Whitney Knight initially committed to Duke, before changing her mind (McCallie was recruiting over her by going after Betnijah Laney, in her same class, after Knight had already committed)

Got to wonder why Smesko and the school are even going through all these interview cycles. They've had the best candidate right in front of them for 4 years. And what's up with $37k a year?? What is she making in her current FGCU job?

And the article is slightly disingenuous, as Coach Collen (Mrs. Tom, apparently) is no longer an assistant at Arkansas.

And the salary is frightful.
