While I am an Arsenal fan, I am not as attached to them as I am UConn, the Yankees or the USMNT; but, Saturday's match against Chelsea was the first time watching an EPL game that I had to start to read a book during the match because to distract me because if I didn't, I would have needed a new TV and/or my almost 9 year old son would have learned that word can be a verb, non, adjective, etc.

Costa's antics are foolish and what amazes me the most is that Glenn and a lot of other EPL officials let him get away with it. Gabriel was a fool for letting Costa get in his head; but, he was defending his teammate who was slapped, scratched and has his face pulled several times by Costa. Koscielny fell a little too easily when Costa chest bumped him; but, 99% of a time when a player does that after the whistle blows, its a yellow or even a red (Zidane anyone?). A halftime, the NBC folks basically summarized that Costa should have received 4 yellow cards in a 2 minute span and yet received just 1 - 2 for slapping, scratching, pulling at a players face twice, 1 for the chest bump (believed to be what he got a Yellow for), 1 for getting in the face of Gabriel before the heel flick after the chest thump when Gabriel was being dragged away.

The good news is that two days later, EPL has seen the tape (not sure what the Referee was watching) and it looks like Costa will be taking a force vacation. Good. I hope Chelsea loses every game while he is out.

I believe he is about to be Suarez'd upon his return. He won't be able to breathe on anyone.

Costa is a dirt bag, If the FA truly wants to clean that up then they need to start handing out more suspensions and fines. No room for it

In a lighter note, any idea how I can watch a webinar and the Tottenham v Arsenal match Wednesday afternoon as the same time at work?

If you have an iPhone or tablet , download the beIN app and watch on mute. I think it's on BeIN at least, not sure if they have an app and show games live though.

That official was incompetent. He lost control of that situation too easily.

I saw a write up on Dean and Arsenal. Arsenal has a much lower winning percentage (than normal) with Dean as ref than without. Something like 57% win rate with other refs, 24% with Dean.

Just something that make you go hmmmmm.

Dean was terrible. What went thru my head while watching was Arsenal fans were experiencing what most other clubs experience with "biased" officials when their teams play Arsenal and majority of the calls/non-calls seem to favor the Gunners. And this is coming form a completely unbiased, neutral fan ;)

FY beIN does have a free app, and you supposedly can watch live broadcasts on it. You just log in selecting your cable provider, etc... (similar to other apps). I'm going to test drive it today with the Tuesday matches. It doesn't get great reviews from the the app store, so most likely nowhere near as good as WatchESPN or NBC Sports Live Extra apps. We shall see, but I'm not too optimistic it will give a good view of the game.

Well, EPL has ruled. Give them credit too, unlike the NFL which takes months to decide on anything. What I would really like to see what, if any. punishment was handed out to Mr. Dean as he clearly lost control of the game and his major decisions were all over turned.

First, Gabriel's ban was overturned basically because he was forced into action by Costa.

And now Costa has been banned for 3 games. Which, considering his actions were not intent to injure, at least physically, feels right to me. What will be interesting down the road is if EPL officials will not be watching him a lot more closely since this is his second suspension in 2 seasons for violent conduct. I hope so, if the NHL can get rid of goons, so can the EPL.

I am sure Mourinho is going to have a fit publicly; but, he may maybe facing his own suspension for an unrelated incident between him and the team's doctor, who happens to be female, during a prior game.
