Unrelated to UConn though it may be, Ernie Banks has died and we are all diminished by his loss. The angry and annoyed, the irritated and irate, will say this post has no business being in the ‘Boneyard’. Perhaps. But I would disagree. Mr. Banks was a ballplayer for the Chicago Cubs, if you did not know. He was a great ballplayer - Hall of Fame caliber - on mostly bad teams. Yet the Hall of Fame was the least of his accomplishments: He was a great human being. I never liked the Cubs. Still don’t. I always loved Ernie Banks. As I said, we are all diminished by his loss. The world in which we live needs more men like Mr. Banks, not fewer. Godspeed.
