I think this probably is the case as you say----can you believe that Staley or Geno would stand by and have a player they really wanted passed by? It is the coaches who bare the burden of wining (yea I know the players play the games) It may happen stranger things do. However the general information is the Committee Selects so that the image of favoritism isn't presented.

I think Geno accepts that burden willingly. :D

Easy: I would hope you are right about Jen getting some recruits in the 50-100 rankings
but it hasn't happened so far.....and her USABasketball jobs have been going on for quite a few years.

My impression of UHart's talent [I would love to be corrected] is that the level
has gone down in recent years.

It's hart to recruit top talent to Speed Bump University.

I think you are correct. They used to be at or near the top of their conference, but have steadily slipped in recent years. Some people keep talking about Jen as the heir apparent to Geno but she's done zero, aside from land some USA national coaching gigs, to indicate she'd be capable of recruiting at the highest level and keeping UCONN at or near the top.

It's extremely hard to recruit players to go to UoH. Look at how Dawn Staley upped her recruiting success when she moved from Temple to South Carolina.

but look at what Geno did in Storrs

with that Olympics title under her belt you would think someone would want to attend UHart... not even the local (city schools) attend UHart, whether thats Jen's doing (locals may have too many distactions) or the players decision I have no idea

The most recent press release from USA Basketball states that there are 24 participants instead of the previously stated 27 participants, and BG is not on the latest list of participants.

This article says Griner is skipping the non-mandatory mini-camp due to her recent difficult situation, and is still a player in good standing with USA basketball.

This is for the best. Her biggest commitment at this point should be to Glory and her counseling, especially this close to the wedding. This is a very delicate time and she needs to deal with her anger management issues. One has to wonder if this was really BG's decision or if USAB made this decision and this is their way of allowing BG to save face.

I really hope that this does not affect her chances of playing in the Olympics. I cannot imagine that any punishment would carry over to next summer but you never know. Are there any other competitions before the Olympics or only practices?

ETT: the team qualified for Rio last summer by winning the world championship tourney....I think that is what it was. The winner was the only
country to qualify....Canada with Kia finished 5th and they do get another chance this summer. I think any games played by the USA between now and Rio are exhibition games..or in some event that has little impact on anything.
