Great for them, if true. Hope Cincy and WVU go with them.

Missouri is sitting in the fence (still).

BYU, WVU and Louisville were confirmed earlier as the B12s remaining targets after Pitt and Arkansas declined.

No confirmed rumors on the list if BYU declines and Missouri leaves. Will they stop at 10 or look for two more?
Cincy is really undesirable. TCU/SMU or USF/UCF makes more sense as does the NYC market(Rutgers/UConn). The regional footprint issue prevents a concensus on the next steps after WVU and Louisville.

The expansion committee is important to Missouri: Kansas, K State, Iowa and Baylor need the warm and fuzzy feeling that the B12 will survive a Missouri defection to allow Missouri to explore the SEC option. Otherwise its Texas A&M redux. The media rights will be the pretext if Missouri decides to act.

I expect 12 teams will be the new footprint so the B12 can claim some sort of victory and raiding another BCS conference is necessary to save face.

For what its worth, every person in a position to actually influence this decision, as opposed to random bloggers, twitter accounts and message board posters, has said the Big 12 is stopping at 10. Chuck Neinas for one, but he is only the Commissioner, so what does he know?

You seem to believe every PR release that's put out there.

Chuck Neinas has repeatedly said they will aggressively expand.

Which is exactly what I said. "replacing Texas A&M" brings the conference to 10. Math is hard.

It reads more to me like the consensus is for 10 but 12 is on the table.

12 requires more thought due to contract dilution. With WVU or BYU as #10 this is less of an issue.

Chip Brown's Orangebloods article pretty much sums it all up. There isn't consensus on 12 and on the importance of regionalism versus TV sets

http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1269088

Texas seems to be content with adding a team that is strong enough to keep the current media contracts in place and opposes a Texas addition. Apparently BYU and WVU meet that criteria.

I expect them to act quickly on a 10th team and continue to study proposals and media contract numbers for 12.

Yes, indeed. Everyone's press statements has agreed with their actions.
