It was almost a day of intramural b-ball for former UConn Huskies in the WNBA.

Seattle took San Antonio. Or, to be more accurate, KML, Sue Bird, and Breanna Stewart beat Mo Jefferson's side. But MoJeff is definitely heating up.

She scored 25 points today, pulled down 5 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. Jefferson is now averaging 17.1 points per game her last eight games.

Kaleena continues her comeback, scoring 10 points, including 7 points in the fourth quarter. She's averaging over 10 ppg over her past six games.

Sue Bird- 8 assists (it's what she does!), plus 6 rebounds.

Oh, almost forgot! That Stewart kid knocked in 22 points, blocked 5 shots. 6 rebounds. Ho-hum....

In the middle of the country, Renee Montgomery recorded 12 points in just 14 minutes, plus getting 3 assists and a steal.

Tiffany was relatively subdued today, with 9 points, while Maya recorded one of her worst games as a pro, dropping in just one bucket out of 9 attempts for 4 points. But, hey, as Aahnold would say, "She'll be baak!)

On this side of the country, Morgan Tuck recorded 13 points, her best performance in at least a month, in helping Connecticut beat Dallas.

Down in D.C., Bria Hartley recorded 3 points, despite playing with a cast on her left hand for a broken bone. Stefanie Dolson did well, knocking in 13 points and snagging 6 rebounds, as she played a big part in a late comeback against New York. But Tina, Swin, and Kiah held them off, the three putting in 13, 2, and 4 points respectively.

Kiah has been relatively quiet recently, not recording a double-digit scoring game in the past month. Her block total is also down sharply, with just 7 in the past 11 games. She's been a bit overshadowed by the big kid with the big hair and the curious name: Amanda Zahoui B. AZB put in 19 points today.

Kelly Faris? Didn't score.

Nice to see the Connecticut contingent doing so well, and playing big roles not just for their teams, but for the pro league as a whole!

The Huskies looked good in front of Geno. Sue looked like the best PG in the world. Moriah looked like the future best PG. Stewie looked like the future best player.

Minny looked good, other than Maya's shot. Seimone is BAAAACK, just in time for Rio.

The NY game was bizarre--19 points from the starters and a record 69 from the bench. I do think that AZB is taking some of Kiah's PT.

Make a note of this, because I don't think it has happened before or will happen again:

Moriah 25
Stewie 22
Stef 13
Tina 13
Morgan 13
Renee 12
Kaleena 10
Tiffany 9
Sue 8
Kiah 4
Maya 4

Maya Moore was tied for 10th as the highest scoring former Husky today.

After all the people (not on this board) who complained about the fact that five former UConn players were selected to the Olympic team, it is very gratifying to observe that four out of those five players are among the WNBA's six top scorers this season. And the fifth? She's leading the league in assists, by an ample margin.

I love it when facts conspire to silence the haters.

What is wrong with B. Hartley though? We talked about KML and she game alive. Should we make a Bria thread and hope for the same thing?

Not sure how bad that broken bone in her hand is. Didn't even know she had a broken hand, until the announcer pointed it out (the Washington announcer). Too bad there is so little coverage of the league, and that even the WNBA includes very little coverage of things like that.

Bria was injured at the beginning of the season, as was Ivory Latta. Tayler Hill has become the go-to scorer in the backcourt (Meeseman is in the front court), so she is entrenched. Natasha Cloud has been playing well as the starter. Bria's minutes are limited behind them.
