UConn doesn't play Stanford in 2015-16 unless they meet in the NCAA tourney . The Cardinal do play Texas and Tennessee consecutively (12/13 and 12/16), so I guess we'll have a pretty clear sense of how promising they are (or not). There's a rematch with Chattanooga, and of course the PAC-12 schedule. Coaches Poll ranking is mid-teens. Top 2015 recruit was Marta Sniezek, rated #38 overall on HG.

How do folks think Nerd City will fare in the midst of all of this? Just interested, as they aren't really on the BY RADAR from what I have (not) read.

there are some gems of upside (e.g., international freshman player no one here knows but who is terrific; McCall and Roberson's improvement) and Tara's great coaching, so based upon what I've seen they could fare anywhere from about 6-15.

The freshman from Australia is supposed to be good, Alana Smith.

2015-16 might be a down year for Stanford. McCall had a good summer did well in USA basketball. Lili Thompson and one of the Samuelson are still on the roster so they should easily be a 4 or lower seed come NCAA time. In addition to the Australian Alana Smith they also got 6'5" Shannon Coffee who depending on the service was consider a top 50-100 prospect in the class. Next season 2016 class they might be favored to win Pac 10 because 1) No significant graduations in 2015 2) they have a very good recruiting class coming in which includes a top 5 PG ( Wilson), a top5 Wing (Carrington) and a top 5 Post (Fingall) 3) Tara will probably still be coaching them up.

I'd say they're more or less a Sweet 16 team again this year. However, they're two seniors (RS Alex Green and Tess Picknell, recall highly-touted post Aly Beebe medically retired) have barely played in their careers. Meaning in 2016-2017 they'll be returning their entire rotation–Lili Thompson, Erica McCall, and K. Samuelson will be seniors, McPhee (who showed lots of promise late last year) and rebounding extraordinaire Kaylee Johnson will be juniors, plus some quality options out of the underclassmen. I'd say Stanford could be a Final 4 contender again in 16-17, but that said, a lot of team also look poised to have loaded 16-17 rosters, so it'll be a tough year for anyone to make the Final 4.
