Really happy for Barnes. It's just too bad that he's a red sock.

Now I'm not a big fan of some posters need to have OT(off topic) used for post that are self explanatory. For example OT: Lebron is a huge douche. No need for tbe OT there. But I'd say in this case it might have been a nice heads up

It is amazing how much talent we had on our baseball team 2 and 3 years ago. If we were ever going to make the CWS again, those would have been the years. I think the talent on those teams were among the best in the country...superior to even the historic powerhouses across the country.

As a related side note, how has Jim Penders not been picked up by a bigger, more traditional baseball school?

Were this NCAA football or basketball, he woulda been gone long ago.

We are very fortunate he's still here.

I am sure he has had offers, but he is a UConn Legacy guy (family UConn connections) and a CT guy (family has been a staple in the CT baseball scene for a generations). As long as we continue to invest and grow the baseball program (which it seems the new AD and President are in favor of), I think he will be the rare guy who stays at UConn despite much larger offers from the big programs around the country. He could be the baseball program's "Calhoun". He is an absolute gift to the UConn baseball program!
