Congrats, Gus!! In your honor:

Rise again, yes, rise again,
Will you My dust,
After a brief rest!
Immortal life! Immortal life
Will He who called you, give you.
To bloom again were you sown!
The Lord of the harvest goes
And gathers in, like sheaves,
Us together, who died.
O believe, my heart, O believe:
Nothing to you is lost!
Yours is, yes yours, is what you desired
Yours, what you have loved
What you have fought for!
O believe,
You were not born for nothing!
Have not for nothing, lived, suffered!
What was created
Must perish,
What perished, rise again!
Cease from trembling!
Prepare yourself to live!
O Pain, You piercer of all things,
From you, I have been wrested!
O Death, You masterer of all things,
Now, are you conquered!
With wings which I have won for myself,
In love’s fierce striving,
I shall soar upwards
To the light which no eye has penetrated!
Its wing that I won is expanded,
and I fly up.
Die shall I in order to live.
Rise again, yes, rise again,
Will you, my heart, in an instant!
That for which you suffered,
To God will it lead you!

Interesting Poem--but it dosen't rhyme!! Are you trying to say that the posting of Gus were dead--but they shall "Die in order to live"/? He was just commenting on his 2000th posting--not his demise!!

Amazingly, I was just watching this when installing my (first) "smart" TV. Do smart TV make us even more stupid? I dunno. But I can get ESPN3 more easily now!
Smart TV's are so darn smart--they keep contacting some guy via the internet to keep themselves up to date!
How smart can a TV be when it relies on humans.

My professor's used to say nursery rhymes, rhyme. Poetry is far more subtle with meter, off rhymes and musical flow. That said, Hickory, Dickory, Dock.

It all depends upon which fire plug you are parked next to---and if the meter is running. Obviously, your professor was frightened my mothers goose as a child--

Thanks Rocky. Adria-a-a-a-a-anne! Try the Solti however on Decca.

undoubtedly one of the greatest recorded performances of any classical piece ever. With the great, much-lamented Lucia Popp

My mother's and my goose have long been cooked. As for the Nursery, my rhymes are cursory. That's all we'll say about that.

I remember Solti's story about taking over the Chicago after Reiner. He said after the first rehearsal he said to himself, "My god, this is a world class orchestra. Who knew?" If he knew about the barely enlightened despot that Reiner was, he'd have known.

Oh yeah, "barely enlightened" in the true European tradition. Those were the "good old days" when conductors could be absolute tyrants (and women only played the harp). Now, orchestra members demand to be paid decent living wages (in addition to what they make in their teaching) and treated as human beings. Of course, it's sad that they finally got better treatment when the finances don't work very well for classical/operatic performance.

While many enjoy hosting, and I don't believe in Boasting, it appears from your note on cursory, that you really read the mothers rhymes of nursery, and if you eat the goose that's fat--then you'll be able to say--"Thats all we'll say about that"

Ma bouche dit touche, when spoken a me, and that's with a thumb in my ear. Less to offer I say when so little today was the best streak and win of the year.

Well--obviously--I am no shake the spear--. I was being serious--nothing comic about it. Did you do rhythmic chanting in the cradle??
Thanks Brooklyn, I enjoyed this short trek down lost memory lane.
