Wow.... I didnt realize it was that big of a deal for some to still think about it 9 years later. I remember the CBS affiliate here was showing the Wake Forest-New Mexico game instead of this one.. so I went to a sports bar to try to watch it.... without any luck. Didnt find out who won til later that night.
Yes it was a big deal.

Has tent city ever been used again for a Women's BB game like it was in 2003? I was at the game and it was electric. DT's Call Me Gesture is part of UConn folklore history.

BTW, can't find that online anywhere either. :)

Nope. There were some mini-tents up until 2007.

But the true Cameron Crazies (in terms of creativity, signs, tons of students, etc.) stopped going to games after 2007. If you compare the crowds, you will notice very few students at games in recent years.

It's my all-time worst game. I know there was much more on the line in the 2001 semi-final
loss to Notre Dame, but that Duke loss was one of the few (only?) games where I had to
watch UConn panic and choke. Agonizing to watch.

Hmmm, that's disappointing. Is this true of both men and women, or is this referring only to the women's games?

I was at the 2003 game, I agree the atmosphere was electric.

Well if its any consolation, last years Duke game in storrs was my all time worst regular season loss i've ever experienced.... in ANY sport. High School Football, NFL, NHL, MLB, college football, mens college bb...... That goes back 34 years or so of watching sports. I didnt even look at espn.com , dwhoops... this board.... the devils den or anything for almost a week. Didnt look at the sports section of the newspaper that week... heck... i dont think i even had a taste for a burger, cheerwine, or donut for the rest of that week :(

That's not right. You should take it up with Coach P. :)

Plus, UCONN shoots very well at CIS.........Great sight lines........They have HS type hoops and the crowd is so close to the court...........UCONN's defense will set the tone next week.....How quick will DUKE be forced out of its zone defense?........If they have to try a Match up zone or MTM............Lights out

Alexis Jones is our only player that can create her own shot, would love to see her take most of ours.
Chelsea Gray is playing for the love of the game & team at 60% ??. Coach P has not added one new
wrinkle to our offense don't see us with 50 points. SO 83 -- 46 . The big loser women's basketball.

The only way UConn can lose is to be over confident. Duke has the talent to beat them. Chelsea Gray not being close to 100% does not do Duke any favors. However, they still have Williams, Liston, Peters and Jones. We have to limit the turnovers and be strong on the glass at both ends. The defense will determine the offense. We need to be very defensive, as always.

I'm begging for details on DT's 'call me' gesture as I can only half remember it!! Please, anyone help me out here with details-I need to live that moment again!!

Not that much to tell. It is what went before: the Crazies had taunted her all game with some pretty rough stuff and DT ignored it but heard it. So when the clock ran out, with proverbial Dookie blood all over the floor, she skipped by the jeering section and gave them a very derisive mouthing of "call me" while holding the horns hand set sign to her ear.

I didn't think it was derisive at all. Her expression was one of playfulness. She and they had a great laugh.

Agree. IIRC, they were chanting, "Who's your daddy" and she went up to the end court, looked into the crowd and said, "Daddy?"

This loss is on the coaches. After Diana hit the shot to put the Huskies ahead, UConn had a timeout to take to set its defense. It didn't. As Harding flew down the court, UConn had a foul to give. It didn't. It's one time that Auriemma slipped up.
Well the REAL reason was the uniform fiasco. I guess you can put that on the coaches.

My game analysis (coming soon) will address some of this.

Jones and maybe Wells are the only players that can keep up with the speed of UConn both offensively and defensively.

When you have a hobbled Gray along with Liston and Peters trying to guard Stewart, Banks, Chong and Hartley or KML (if available) UConn has a huge advantage.

Sure, blame it on the coaches, but the biggest blunder of all was by Ashley Battle, previous Big East Defensive Player of the Year, setting under the basket, waiting for a rebound. Just what the hell was she planning on doing with the ball as the clock ran out?

The obvious need was to delay Duke's bringing the ball upcourt, but UConn failed to do that.

Battle was the goat, in my opinion. She might as well not have been on the court for that play.
The whole team collapsed. We were ahead by 8 to 10 pts. & Duke put on a press & as a result in the final 2 minutes, they went ahead by one pt. with 8 seconds remaining. I still can hear Geno screaming at the team for not playing to their full ability. Foley ran down the side line & was in position to shoot the three. While the ball was is in the air, the red light went on, 'basket good', game over!! Only silence remained except for the Duke players screaming with Joy.

6 days to the game and we are worried about Jess Foley?...........The difference from the 2003 and 2004 teams to today are night and day....They were an over achieving bunch lead by UCONN's greatest player in DT.......The UCONN team has too many shooters and plays too much defense to allow that to happen again. Plus, Geno has much better athletes today VS 2003/04..........Lets talk again at 9 PM on Tuesday night following the game. I wish both teams well and stay healthy between now and Tuesday night.........UCONN can and will win with or without KML and Tuck..........UCONN has played 3 games against top 15 talent and DUKE has played 0......

I dont think that Penn State is a top 15 talent team, but time will tell.

That game - or even just that shot - is nowhere to be found on YouTube. It is as if every single Boneyarder made a concerted effort in order to ensure that video will never be shown again and all memories of that game could be wiped out (from a visual evidence standpoint). Seriously.

#BoneyardSupremacy
#DontMessWithHuskyNan
#NeverUnderestimateThePowerOfPolarBears

It has been stricken from all memory. Wiped clean from the face of the earth.

I watched the game. I didn't think Oklahoma used their big girl to the best advantage.

I think the game with UCONN will be closer than 20 points as some have posted here. Their first real test of the season.

I'd like to see UCONN play Arkansas too but will have to wait until the tournament.

11 - 0 Arkansas? Are you serious? They haven't played any team of note as yet and when the SEC regular season starts there will be a dramatic fall from perfection. They will be lucky to place 6th in the SEC. Doubt they will ever see UConn.
