Quarter Length: 10 minutes

So those of you who enjoy video games, I thought I'd start a UConn Dynasty and hopefully take our minds off of the dreadful season were having.

Ill be posting some introduction stuff here to get an overall feel of where UConn currently stands, before I start playing as them.

I haven't played an ncaa game since 2007 so I won't be destroying teams, which is more realistic anyways. Ill also be adding some commentary and asking you guys for your input on roster and recruiting decisions, hopefully making it more interactive.

Because were also halfway through the current season, Id like to start my dynasty off next year, as a brand new CT HS coach who has been hired to take the reigns of UConn football after a poor 2013 campaign.

Ill probably be updating this every couple days so stay tuned.

2014: New Beginnings, Or The End Of An Era ?

Season Preview

Hartford Courant
"After a disappointing 2013 season, UConn Football saw itself questioning whether they could ever share the success that their basketball team so often relished in. Firing Coach PP after a short, disappointing, and frustrating tenure, the UConn AD Warde Manuel decided to surprise everybody by hiring the up and coming local CT HS coach Tom Fishy. Coach Fishy saw major success at the high school level, but was totally unproven as a head football coach of a major div 1 school. UConn Husky fans were left wondering if this could be the final nail in the coffin of UConn Football, or if they had just found their new savior. Only time would tell...."

So guys, UConn has just hired CT HS Tom Fishy, and its up to you decide what kind of system he will be bringing to UConn Football in 2014.

I can keep the offense the same (boring), or run a passing spread offense like SMU, or maybe a running spread offense like Oregon, or hell even turning UConn into a triple option team would be fun to play as. Any suggestions? Whatever you choose Ill have to start recruiting those types of players.

Wishbone offense worked for me in 2009. Ran the table multiple times and then accepted an invitation to the ACC. Spent a few seasons there before accepting the head coaching position at Auburn. At least that's how I think it played out... If only IRL...

5-wide sets operated by a dual-threat QB. Virtually unstoppable. Use a running back in the second half to shorten up game-time so you can move to the next one. Typically going into halftime up by 4o+ made playing the second halves boring for me.

Running the spread or air-assault always worked best for me. Recruit a stellar QB and solid WR and you're golden. Won many a NC in this game (not this year's version) with that strategy. I used to get every years version of this game but stopped three years ago as the game play never changed no matter how much they claimed. Felt it wasn't worth my $60 anymore. How's this year's version? I think the last one I had was NCAA '12

Ive enjoyed this years, but I haven't truly owned one since 07' on the original xbox, and none of the current gen versions will ever be as good as the older versions.

Yeah I did like the older versions where they had real 1-AA schools. However, I do enjoy the fact that every football stadium is in the new games.

Is this game any good? I play Madden 25 with my son, and I am lukewarm on the game, mostly because it is absurdly slow and the automatic replays add 20% to the playing time. I don't think I will buy another game that doesn't let me turn off replays.

I personally prefer the NCAA games to Madden, but I am in the minority on it. Fewer replays in the NCAA games (though I haven't play the more recent versions).

I was/am in the same boat. One season I finally decided to give Madden a go and didn't like it at all. I don't know if it's because usually Madden is ahead of the game with controls, etc or what. Usually the NCAA games get whatever worked in the Madden games the season before put into them the next year. I liked the NCAA games because of the Dynasty mode. Unfortunately, little changes from season to season so buying a newer version each year got tiring and I found myself less interested as time went on.

I also HATE that Madden 25 doesn't let you save a game in the middle. Either I have to commit to an hour of video gaming, which is hard, or play 5 minute quarters, which sucks. Even setting quarters at 9 minutes brings the playing time up to an hour, mostly because of the stupid replays. The weird thing is I have Madden 12 on the Wii, and it lets you save in the middle and turn off replays. The Wii has other issues just because of the game system, and Nintendo could terminate the entire product line any year now, but it was easier to play because of those two issues.

I can't figure out why Madden would get rid of two good features like that.

Unless they've added it in the past two years they don't have a save feature in NCAA either. Actually I don't know any EA games that do. I usually played 5 minute quarters for the time constraints you listed above. It was another reason why I stopped buying the games. With a kid, I have no time, let alone 30-40 min to commit to playing one game. I do play FIFA because it's quick and fun.
