This is a great opportunity both for the US to host a major soccer tournament (maybe a dry run should FIFA develop a brain and backbone and pull 2022 from Qatar) and for the US to compete (automatic entry as host) against some of the best teams in the world in advance of the Hex. Need to have a very good showing.

Cannot wait. 16 team tournament with all 10 Soith American nations, plus U.S., Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and 2 yet to be determined CONCACAF nations (will qualify thru a playoff).

That's a sick tournament. If you just did an "S" curve seeding based on rankings to pick the groups you'd have:
Group A: Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Venezuala
Group B: Colombia, USA, Peru, Bolivia
Group C: Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Paraguay
Group D: Chile, Uruguay, T&T, Panama

Right now, I would have the US slotted in as a 3 seed swapping with Costa Rica based on their play as of late, which would make it really hard for them to advance.

Wiki page has the list of potential stadiums - hoping the US will play at least one in the Northeast! We will be running buses if they do.

I am sure they will, the question is which one. The good news is that it is June, so there should not be any NFL conflicts, which are an issue as they will have to switch from turf to grass for the Copa matches. Guessing the title game will be at the Rose Bowl; but, I am sure Jerry Jones will push for Dallas (AT&T) and the media will want MetLife (NYC), too

having just traveled to and from the Rose Bowl for USA-Mex - my fingers are crossed for MetLife.

10 venues, including three MLS stadiums, announced for 2016 Copa América Centenario
November 19, 20154:23 PM EST
MLSsoccer staffMLSsoccer.com

CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and the Copa América Centenario Local Organizing Committee announced on Thursday the 10 US venues that will host Copa América Centenario games, to be played from June 3-26, 2016, including three MLS stadiums.

The host metropolitan areas and respective stadiums are: Boston (Gillette Stadium), Chicago (Soldier Field), Houston (NRG Stadium), Los Angeles (Rose Bowl), New York (MetLife Stadium), Orlando (Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium), Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field), Phoenix (University of Phoenix Stadium), San Francisco (Levi’s Stadium) and Seattle (CenturyLink Field).

Current MLS season ticket holders will be eligible to purchase tickets for the Copa América Centenario during an exclusive private sale. More information on the ticket allocation process will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Similar to the FIFA World Cup, each venue will host matches on multiple days through the tournament. Most venues will host at least three games.

Chosen from among 24 candidates that originally submitted bids earlier this year, the stadiums passed rigorous standards – including minimum seating capacity of 60,000 and other world-class infrastructure requirements – in order to host matches of this high-profile tournament which is sure to draw multitudes of fans to venues across the country.

The 2016 Copa América Centenario is the historic centennial edition of Copa América – the South American championship – and will be staged outside of South America for the first time. The tournament will feature six teams from CONCACAF and all 10 teams from the South American football confederation, CONMEBOL.

From CONCACAF, host United States and Mexico are automatic qualifiers, while Costa Rica (2014 Copa Centroamericana winners) and Jamaica (2014 CFU Caribbean Cup winners) qualified with regional championships last year.

The final two teams from CONCACAF will be determined in a doubleheader playoff set to be played on Jan. 8, 2016, in Panama City. Trinidad & Tobago will face Haiti, and Panama square off against Cuba, with the winners qualifying for the Copa América Centenario.

Thoughts on my pick for the 23 man roster excluding fitness issues (Brooks, Nagbe) and knowing that certain players can play Defense/Midfield or Forward/Midfield

GK (3) - 1) Howard, 2) Guzan, 3) Horvath
Defenders (7) - 4) Besler, 5) Brooks, 6) Cameron, 7) Lichaj 8) Miazga , 9) Ream 10) Yedlin
Midfielders (7) - 11) Beckerman, 12) Bedoya, 13) Bradley, 14) Johnson, 15) Kitchen, 16) Nagbe, 17) Williams
Forwards (6) - 18) Altidore 19) Dempsey 20) Morris 21) Pulisic, 22) Wood 23) Zardes

Nice to see Fabian listed as a midfielder. Time will tell where he lines up given our dire LB situation, but it's a start.
