If I was UNC, I would demand a Grant of Rights right now. FSU and Clemson have no where to go but the Big 12, and the Big 12 appears to have gotten up from the table. The SEC or Big10 would take a look at UNC, so they have the upper hand now within the ACC. It would be a good time to strike.

That William Goldman quote seems to work here, "Nobody knows anything"

Maybe but it's awfully complicated and goes against schools leaving money on the table since they get paid for a championship game.

I think you're right on this. At the least it would force FSU's hand. I think every other school would be in. I never thought they would leave. The incremental payout difference is merely the reflection of these contracts. Who knows what the next contracts look like? It's certainly not enough, after subtracting travel costs for all programs, to make up for the $20M payout. It reflects very short term thinking. The ACC will not be marginalized in the playoff, the states it represents have too much clout. Whether it fields a worthy team is another story. An unbeaten VT or FSU would definitely be in.

I will still be a little surprised if we've heard the last of Florida State to the B-12. Could well be that the Notre Dame fake was enough to give Texas what it wanted for the moment, but I would guess that there will continue to be a push for 12 teams if Notre Dame ultimately backs off (when Notre Dame backs off) and Florida State is the logical addition with the Irish or with someone else. to me the 2nd school is very much up for grabs, though...I never thought Clemson was the first choice. they and Louisville both are about equal. I'd push ofr VaTech if it were me.

Wait. I thought these were all done deals? FSU and Clemson to the Big 12. NCSt and VT to the SEC. Maryland, Virginia, UNC and Rutgers to the B1G.

    What happened?

You talk out of both sides of your mouth. You spent more time pimping ACC teams to the BiG and SEC than you did talking about ND feinting to freeze expansion.

What about Jerry Jones and a Big 12 championship at his place? They have to be trying to get to 12 teams by next year no matter how the BCS meetings playoffs turn out, no?

Arkansas leaving would make Missouri look even more stupid. But a trade of Arkansas to B12 and FSU to SEC would make more sense than FSU to B12.

Then the Big 12 would have an odd number of teams ...Who would make a 12th, Louisville? Would the SEC use the movement to go for NC State and a Virginia team? If FSU were to leave the ACC they'd be open to it.

Except for the Texas Jedi Mind Tricks, I never understood the Razorbacks leaving the Southwest Conference for the SEC. They were generally one of the Big 3 (with the Longhorns & aTm). One of my classmates at UConn was a big Razorback fan back then because her parents were both alumni. The week of the annual Arkansas-Texas game was sacred to her family.
    But money talks.

I can't see why a team would leave one of the most secure and the most lucrative conference to go to a conference that was on life support less than a year ago and could still return there in a few years. Leaving the SEC is absurd and if anyone truly thinks Arkansas would do that needs to think again. I don't care what conference Arkansas used to be in. They are in the premier college football conference and will never need to worry if their conference will fold or not have a premier team in it in a few years. A move from the SEC to Big-12 would asinine.

Agree 100%. Jerry Jones may have more than Fort Knox, but even he can't support the Big-12 by himself. It must aggravate the hell out of him though that he can't host his alma mater every other year against Texas in his own fish bowl.

If he paid them enough money he could.
