@Chris_Sailer

CSK

its a training/instruction school thingy from a couple pros on kicking/punting/snapping. its alumni list goes for days. its big time i guess from the looks of stuff. seems like a big time recruit tool for kids at those positions.

RE got Desi Cullen in 06, he was part of that program(saw it on the alum list).

anyway BP is part of that. thought that it was interesting in year 1 that we were able to get a commit from him. i wonder if there is a connection to that program through our staff somewhere now. i looked for Cuse guys on the lists but they were post PP years, the website didn't have much pre 04ish.

lastly:

Top 12 of 2011

1. Cole Leininger- FL - 2012 - Kicker/Punter
2. Ross Martin - OH - 2012 - Kicker
3. Paul Griggs - NC - 2012 - Kicker
4. Osborn Umeh - CA - 2012 - Punter
5. Cason Beatty - NC - 2012 - Punter
6. Evan Sobiesk - MS - 2012 - Kicker
7. Bobby Puyol - FL - 2012 - Kicker
8. Brooks Abbott- FL - 2012 - Kicker
9. Garrett Owens - CA - 2012 - Kicker
10. Kenny Allen - MI - 2012 - Kicker/Punter
11. Anthony Farinella - IL - Kicker
12. Landon Foster - TN - 2012 - Kicker/Punter

It does make me wonder further about the star ratings. Rivals and Scout have Puyol rated 2 stars and he is the is in the Top 12 (#7) of 2011 kickers? Since he was recruited based on his kicking should he not be either 4 or 5 stars?

Dan did you check for any Stanford and Western Kentucky links with the CS program? If so then Clayton White is the link. My buddy's brother coaches hs ball down in Fla ( he kicked at St Thomas Aquinas in HS and Michigan in college). He said Puyol has a BIG leg but can lose accuracy on long fg's, also said he is gonna be a good one.

The kid should have been a three star as other top kickers but since UConn following is small it wasn't going to happen.

I don't care as long as he kicks well for the Huskies this year and in his career

here is my 1 issue with his "star" count. i understand that a few, very few kickers get good star counts and by all media we have a legit top 15 in the country kicker. i'm thrilled to get him and will be a big fan but my question is - why didn't he have any other bcs offers? there is something to that question that makes me wonder considering all the vids and media that weigh so positive towards his corner....

Puyol also played qb for Dwyer and is a pretty big kid...not built like your avg kicker.

they don't rate kickers 4 or 5 stars. if you check rivals top 15 kicker list the top 8 are 3 star and the last 7 are 2 star. i have a feeling they only give a kicker 4 stars or higher once in a blue moon, if ever. it is what it is, i guess they don't deem the position important enough to warrant high star ratings. funny considering i've probably seen more games lost due to bad kicking than most other positions.

No matter what the recruiting services rated Puyol...he was a BIG signing by us. His leg will help us on kick-offs and he should have a good shot to replace Teggert...HUGE shoes to fill...IMHO. I'm looking forward to watching Bobby kick for us the next 4-5 years.
