Look, this O-Line is atrocious and we all know it and they all know it. So what worked for us last season when we had to overcome that? Short, slant plays that got the ball out quickly and utilized our underrated and talented WR.

So my question is this: Was Casey the only QB on the roster capable of throwing this or what? Boyle didn't throw many and neither did Whitmer during their time as starting QB last season. It wasn't until CC came in that our passing game opened up. There has got to be a reason that they are not calling this play more often.

Diaco said he wanted to adjust the offense to fit what the O-Line was actually capable of. Clearly they aren't capable of much now so why not tell Cummings, we need more slants in our offense. We have a stud receiver in Davis, let's see what he can do if we put the ball in his hands.

I'm not even asking for screens, which can be a little challenging for linemen to block properly. I just want a freaking slant. Let our WR's show what they can do. Find a QB who can do this. You can't tell me CC threw these out of audibles he called himself.....

Terrible game plan. Made DeLeone look like Chip Kelly compared to last night's game plan. At least make them think you are going to pass as they were loading up on run. With USF playing the run why not throw some quick pass to Davis or Foxx on sideline and have them win a one on one battle. Davis is a stud and must figure out how to use him. In the running game USF ran straight ahead, while we did delayed handoffs and had the linemen try to come to other side of field to pull in horrible conditions, made no sense where when we ran straight ahead like the first play with DeLorenzo we did OK . If you go to ESPN scores section and if you look at game highlights of the couple of running plays they have up, the Newsome 15 yard run to the right is real nice. The left tackle and left guard (think back up was in) do good job sealing off their side of field and other linemen go straight ahead looking for someone to block, Tight end (Myers) on right goes straight ahead and gets his guy and fullback takes out guy coming in on edge and get nice gain, but on highlights when we pulled it too long to get there and defenders were left unblocked. We made their d line look good. The way our defense played if we played to field conditions as USF did with more straight ahead running using the fullback to take out LB's or DB's with some hint of a passing game with quick routes we win by 7-10 points. Even with all this still think Diaco will figure it out as he is smart and motivated.

I agree, we know the OL offers horrible (at best) pass protection. The QB has to know he must get rid of the ball quickly. Unfortunately, opposing defenses are stacking the box against us, so there is almost always a LBer on each side to guard against the slant. We're getting one on one matchups quite often on the outside, why not throw it up for Davis or chuck it downfield and let Foxx or another speedy receiver go get it?

Chandler can't see opportunity where Casey could. Time to let Boyle try and hope he doesn't get killed out there. Chandler throwing lots of slants is going to result in all kinds of pick 6s.
