1. When's the last time we beat UK for a recruit?
2. I hope Ollie gets AJ Price in this summer to hold a clinic on how to throw entry passes. It's a legit skill, and Jalen has no idea how to do it properly.

We got enough point guards on the staff, you'd hope they'd school him up in the off season.

ESPN scouting report on him:

Updated 01/20/2016

Strengths:
Brown is an imposing physical presence who combines size, length, an already big frame that should have no problem continuing to add muscle mass, and a good motor. The southpaw has terrific hands, a willingness to go right into contact, and good poise with his back to the basket. He battles to establish deep post position, passes well out of a double team, already knows how to kick and repost, always keeps the ball high, and finishes with dunks whenever possible. He has some touch out to 12 feet but almost everything he does offensively goes toward the rim right now as he scores off deep post touches, dump offs, and tip-ins. Brown is very active defensively and controls the paint by taking up a lot of space with his size and length, while keep his hands high to challenge or block any shot within a fairly wide radius. He goes to get the ball with two hands off the glass and can clean both backboards.
Weaknesses:
While undeniably productive, Brown's post game is still raw and unrefined. If he can't get to point blank range he's going to bully his way over his right shoulder. He doesn't have a true go to move in the post, nor a consistent counter over his left shoulder. He's also not a great athlete and so while he'll finish strong at the rim, that is more a product of his size and length, as he isn't especially explosive in traffic.
Bottom Line:
He's a young and talented big man who is embracing what it means to be a true post player. While his game can be unpolished at times, he is active, and consequently highly impactful, on both ends of the floor and one of the top center prospects in America regardless of class.

Since UK has not offered him, did we really beat them out? If that is the criteria, then we beat out the whole country for him. I keep seeing Georgia, Florida and NC State are his other offers
When's the last time we beat NC State? Other then Rodney 2.0

I could understand any speculation of Brown reclassifying. He committed early, and probably wants to get to the NBA as soon as possible.

On the other hand, he's falling down in rankings because he doesn't have much of a low post game, which another year of high school may be good for. It probably can get frustrating working on your post game when you're 7 inches taller than anyone, though.
Yeah, I'm not sure how high school, given, as you say, the relative disparity in talent and physical size, would be better for working on the low post game than college ball. I mean, we'll get him with a big man coach like Clyde....umm Pete Newell....uh...sh_t.

Absolutely, but AJ was a savant at feeding the post - much better than KO or Ricky (I'm not old enough to remember Hobbs or Miller).

I'll take AJ in a heartbeat, no doubt. But if this staff can't develop PGs, we are well and truly ducked! I was pretty much kidding with my post though.

From the article "Brown's post game is still raw and unrefined" Oh great another raw big man. JK. Great get by KO but this seems so anti-climatic with OZ predicting this was always a 100% sure thing.

Let's face it. Zach's destiny is to be called Baby Shaq.

hahaha yes, but did you see the part about him having wonderfully soft hands? Thank god. No Palmolive/Dawn jokes.

Official measurements from the Nike Skills Academy this past summer:

Height w/ shoes: 7' 0.5"
Weight: 241
Wingspan: 7' 3.5"
He's definitely whipped himself into shape based on recent pics and the earlier highlight videos. Looks like he's shed a decent amount of weight.

Between him and Enoch we can just lob the ball down low in 2017-18. They'll catch everything.
KO finally recruiting his type of big men. Strapped with a bunch of string beans in Brimah, Nolan and Facey, KO seems to have his type of big bodied athletic front court players. Enoch and Brown could really bring us back to the old days of us controlling the glass and the paint

Who he reminds us of: Former Georgetown great and current NBA player Roy Hibbert. Both bigs use their massive size to be a barrier to the rim and clog the lane. Offensively they each possess length and touch to make jump hooks and finish drop off passes. What’s really similar is how they both run well for a seven footer and how they each pass well out of the post when the double team arrives. Brown is sometimes triple teamed and has learned this skill early in his young career.

Interesting blurb from insiders on the commitment . From seeing video I can agree with this , he is huge and can be an anchor just off positional defense. Not necessarily great off the floor, but that doesn't matter when you're 7'2.
