Big 12 rivaling BE for ineptitude: Mizzou might bolt to SEC

Because of Super Conferences. They want more $$. The only way there is 16. Because that will END the Big12 and BE. And when the Big12 and BE are ended, the limited pot of money that exists in TV rights will be spread to the 64 instead of the 84 or whatever. Simple math. Sure, the added schools may not be accretive marketwise (which is precisely why you try to grab the best schools you can now) but the per team contract will rise.

The Pac-10 and ACC are the two leagues who stand to risk the most in this game, especially the ACC.

For the Pac10, if Tex goes to the Big10 or ACC, and Oklahoma and Okie St head to the SEC, the Pac10 is looking at rubbings for members. They'll be begging Okie.
for the ACC, they risk losing UConn/Rutgers to the Big10 if and when ND joins. If that happens, the ACC is left looking at UConn/Rutgers and who? Worse, adding UConn and Rutgers now may precipitate losing a football school to the SEC.

The Big10 is sitting back but it too can't be too complacement. Sure, it can eventually add ND/Rutgers/UConn, but it's likely it may be looking at Kansas/Kansas St/Iowa St/West Virginia too if it dawdles too much.

The SEC could be bold and end all this within a week by taking Oklahoma and Okie St. If the SEC were to do that, you'd see an end to this in very short order.

Pretty much encapsulates most of the ifs and fluidity and the gamesmanship.

From a football and $$ perspective I want UConn in the B!G. From a bb perspective I want UConn in the ACC. But the overall best for UConn is the B!G and I can only fantasize this option. But it was my wildest dreams UConn would win last season men's bb championship and eleven tournament games in a row so who knows.

Adding Oklahoma doesn't mean that premium would still apply for the OU ad OSU combo. Adding Texas and all 4 teams with Missouri and A&M in the SEC? OK. That effectively ended the Big12 contract and was on the table but left in the hands of the conferences.

The ACC is the only good choice at this point. B12 second. BE third.

I'll say this again. The premium for the pac10 and acc and all conferences rises when the be and big12 cease to exist. If you want to move to superconferences, then the only question is, when? I would not be so surprised if the conference that comes out on top is the boldest one. The SEC, IMO, is perfectly situated.
