The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the full time position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Responsibilities will include: assisting the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator with the development and administration of the strength and conditioning programs for the UConn football program and other teams assigned by the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator; strict compliance with NCAA regulations and policies of the University and the American Athletic Conference; assistance with practice and game-day duties including pre-game/practice warm-ups; collaboration with Athletic Training staff as to the monitoring and rehabilitation of student-athletes with injuries; assistance with communication of strength program organization to prospective student-athletes and parents; and assist with supervisory responsibility of strength and conditioning interns.

This job posting is scheduled to be removed at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on December 21, 2016.<<

I'm not sure if new/additional position or replacement position.

... and no, there is no other football related job posted yet.

Why do I have a weird feeling that Balis might be gone? and we have somebody new in place that we won't hear about until signing day, to go along with the assistant that's hired from the posting above?

I think it's more like Balis is still restructuring the S&C program. There has been a very visible lack of S&C progress with hoops the past few seasons. If Diaco had been replaced I would say Balis would most likely be on the move.

Hopefully they are enhancing their S&C team with additional support.

The fact that the OC position hasn't been posted is interesting. Do they usually wait to post it until they have the candidate in mind and the posting is a formality?

That has been past practice...

So kind of like white smoke from the Vatican...when we see it posted we know someone has been selected. And as long as there is no smoke....someone may still get fired. (see what I did there?..lol).

Probably more likely that someone working under Balis landed a S&C lead gig elsewhere and the position on the UConn staff needs to be filled before off-season workouts kickoff.

Balis turned out to be inferior to the guy who was here - another Diaco used car sales job!

I want a speed coach. 50% of their time should be on speed drills - like dragging parachutes.

I am not sure I agree.

I have a Mississippi State fan at work (yes...we do have those in Atlanta) who talks about how their conditioning has gotten worse since Balis left. He said their teams get worn down easily now. Of course...the players have changed...but Mississippi State fans loved Balis.

You couldn't be more wrong. inferrior to the guy who was here before him? The kids couldn't do the minimum reps on pro day if I remember. Could it be the players in the system or the system itself and has nothing do do with S&C?

You truely show how
Much of a moron you are every time you strike the keyboard in this forum. Jerry Martin was replaced as the full time football S&C guy by Pasqualoni who brought his own guy with him from the Cowboys! It has been posted here a BUNCH of times.

If Matt were to leave it would be for a better opportunity. Certainly not for his immense contributions to UCONN. He is one of the best in the business. Between Matt and Nancy Rodriquez, (nutrition) these young men get into tremendous shape.

It's so obvious when your responses are of "click bait" quality.

Of all the things this team was this year, tired and weak, were not ways I would describe them.

Balis is the head of the whole department, So it sounds like one of the assistants got another job or something. Balis isn't going anywhere
