While the rate that dementia progresses is very wide that progress is inevitable and unavoidable. I see it almost every day when I visit my wife. From where she was diagnosed (about 64) to where she is today nearing her 73rd birthday is a huge gap. That Pat had time and a progress rate that allowed her to share so much was enlightening (or should have been) to those who don't understand the disease and what it does. There were issues about Pat that defied common sense and lost her some respect from UConn people but overwhelmingly she was a dynamic coach and person. I sincerely believe that without Summitt there might not be an Auriemma success story, or a WNBA. Might have been a bit of a blessing that she likely didn't have to face the embarassment that Tyler became. RIP - PAt
