Yeah, he makes me nervous. Generally, I am a fan of the speaking-truth-to-power motif, and, in the sports context, I appreciate some good 'ol bravado and righteous indignation. That said, the fact remains that the institutions that have the ability to punish Hurley have said quite clearly that public criticism of the refs will not be tolerated. It doesn't matter how strongly Coach or I think that is bullspit. The fact is that he can hurt the team with his comments. Hopefully this tweet is not an instance of him crossing the line, but he is clearly walking near it.
