A Name to Remember: Sam Brunelle - 2019 William Monroe (VA)

One of the top freshmen prospects in the country (#2 on ASGR), Brunelle is a multi-dimensional, 6-2/6-3 forward. UConn has attended her practice this year and she's being watched by all the big schools.

In the past week she has had these stat lines:

41 points, 22 rebounds, 6 blocks

52 points, 26 rebounds, 5 blocks

The best overall prospect at the event due to her combination of size, skill and IQ. Brunelle dominated. She is effective on the block, a very good shot blocker, a willing and precise passer and has college 3-point range on her jumper already. It's scary how good she will be when she graduates in 2019 from high school.

She had a 35 point, 25 rebound, 9 block game as well.

She seems to be an Elena Della Donne fan going by a few of her re-tweets and it sounds as if there are similarities in their games.

The Falcons had trouble stopping the 6-foot-2 Brunelle, who is ranked as one of the top freshmen in the country and already being recruited by colleges such as UConn. Brunelle had 29 points and 16 rebounds.


“The Brunelle girl, she came to play a little bit tonight,” Bryan Scott said. “She’s pretty decent. She makes the other four players on the court better.”

BTW, in the game from Tuesday mentioned directly above Samantha Brunelle had 4 threes as part of her 29-pt performance. She's 14.....

Of course, Brunello is a made-up name for a wine (brownish tint for a first cousin of the essential grape constituting Chianti--sangiovese grosso), but Geno can claim some affinity, wine-to-wine.
