WOW is right!
Looks like HCRE is not fn around! Home run!
Now formally tweeted by UConn:
SIGN ME UP RANDY
AD Dave coming in for the kill!
This is a guy that some here considered a sexy hire for HC. Unbelievable that he will be the OC.
Or Dave Benedict. The connection is a no brainer.
Rhett Lashlee has worked under Gus Malzahn for his entire career with the exception of his one year at Samford University.
From 2004 to 2005 Lashlee worked with the quarterbacks at Springdale High School. Following the announcement of Malzhan's hire as Arkansas Razorbacks offensive coordinator in 2006, Lashlee was hired as an offensive graduate assistant. Following this season, Malzahn left to become the coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. Although invited to join Malzhan's staff at Tulsa, Lashlee left coaching and remained in Northwest Arkansas. Instead, Lashlee and his brother in law wrote, published, and marketed High School Sports The Magazine (later renamed Vype), a publication based on high school sports in Arkansas. During the two years Lashlee was involved in the business, he made relationships with high school coaches throughout Arkansas and marketed his magazine to distributors. Lashlee volunteered as quarterbacks coach at Har-Ber High School when his schedule would allow. Malzahn was hired as the offensive coordinator at Auburn for the 2009 season. Following this announcement, Malzahn offered Lashlee to join his staff as a graduate assistant, returning Lashlee to coaching.
He remained in this role until leaving to become offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Samford University Bulldogs in 2011. During his coaching season the team offensive improved in points per game (17 to 26), total offense (57 to 46 ranking nationally), and improved their record from 4-6 to 6-5 through the installation of a high tempo offense. Malzahn left Auburn following 2011, becoming head coach of the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Lashlee followed, becoming offensive and quarterbacks coach for Arkansas State. Malzhan returned to Auburn as head coach after one year at Arkansas State. On December 6, 2012, Gus Malzahn named Rhett Lashlee as his offensive coordinator. In 2013, Lashlee was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top college football assistant coach.
This is big time. Hope HCRE can get him to stick around long enough to groom him to become the next head coach
I would be shocked if DB did not say, turn this around and the HC job is yours in 3-4 years, and Randy surely knows it.
how do you think they got him?
Can he arrive on campus before we talk about him leaving? Jeez lol
More of I wanted him as head coach before this so I imagine other schools do too. But fair
Took $250K paycut to come here. :-O
Last year was the first year he called plays as an OC.
Holy mackerel! Time to punch some people in the f&%king mouth now!!!
ha ha...Rhett is off the Auburn football staff page already. Quick.
Wow. Just like the time I called Comcast to cancel my cable. Before we got off the phone ( I had to pay my bill over the phone because their website is the worst thing ever) my cable was cancelled. I paid through the month, but it was cut off before they could even hang up.

Not something you see often: The offensive coordinators at Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee left for jobs at FAU, UConn and Indiana.
That is an unbelievable hire. Seriously, that is a splash we never even considered we could make. And shows Edsall willing to go outside his comfort zone and do something different on O.
I hope to God we can have a QB on the field next fall, because Lashlee on top of the earlier hires makes me very excited.
It was out there that Tenn was not happy with their OC...and someone had to take the fall for their bad season. We know that Kiffin had to go somewhere and FAU was his best offer. Lashlee to UConn is surprising because he had a good rep with Auburn. Obviously there is more to the story, but at face value this is amazing.
If anyone thinks this is an Edsall hire, really!?! This has AD DB written all over it..
I mean I'm sure AD Dave had a hand in this but to say Randy wasn't instrumental in making this decision is pretty tough to believe.
$95,000, not bad for 2 years after graduating
Wonder if one of the boosters in paying Lashlee or his kin off the books. Has to be.
Whoa!!!! There's the didn't see that coming moment!!!!
More like Athletic Director Dave. This is his hire, not Randy's.
