nice pick up for Tulsa

Tulsa Sports Extra on Twitter

worth noting from that article:

"The Hurricane also has commitments from five other Tulsa-area players: defensive end Ryan Patrick of Bishop Kelley; defensive tackle Garrett Flanary of Lincoln Christian; running back Shamari Brooks of Union; quarterback Seth Boomer of Collinsville; athlete Zaven Collins of Hominy."

5 commits from Tulsa ALONE. Really helps to be in a recruiting hotbed area. If/when UConn can start keeping some of these guys in CT that other programs want we will really see our recruiting level take off IMO. Started to happen a little last year and then we lost a lot of momentum this season.

ECU and Cincy just had decommits in past 48 hours. It's that time of year.

really curious how the early signing period changes the recruiting landscape. Bet you a lot of these decommits don't happen now and the process gets cleaned up. Think it helps teams in the AAC long term.

SMU's prized QB commit, Charlie Brewer, will bring in the New Year with a new team, Baylor

Update with 2 more weekends left for prospects to OV before signing day..

http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CompositeTeamRankings?Conference=AAC

Wow. Memphis takes over the number 1 spot from Houston with UCF right behind them. UH only has 16 commits which is part of the reason for their lower ranking

1. Memphis
2. UCF
3. Houston
4. ECU
5. USF
6. SMU
7. Navy
8. Cincinnati
9. Tulane
10. Temple
11. Tulsa
12. UConn

More thoughts: Our overall score will rise as we take on more commits. I expect us to wind up with ~10 more commits than we currently have. That will help us a lot in the rankings.

Surprised to see Temple and Tulsa so low on this list. Would've thought Temple would've been able to ride the momentum of an AAC title on the recruiting trail but losing your entire staff probably doesn't help in that regard. Tulsa had a phenomenal season and being so low is fairly surprising. Navy obviously recruits differently than everyone else but them having 12 composite 3* players is nice to see as well. I think USF under Strong will routinely be top 3 in the conference moving forward as well.

In 2014 we were ranked 110 in the country and 11th in the AAC
In 2015 we were ranked 100 in the country and 10th in the AAC
In 2016 we were ranked 103 in the country and 12th in the AAC
Before RE 2.0 took over we were ranked 122 in the country and 12th in the AAC.

As of now we stand at 98th in the country and 9th in the AAC.

USF with Charlie Strong moves from last to 5th over the course of the final weekend.

On the woulda-coulda - if we landed Crawford (went to Tulsa) and Sheffield, we'd be 9th, maybe 8th.

Bottomline for us, we landed our best deck of QBs ever.

Also don't underestimate the stud RB transfer from South Carolina - think back to the days of Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon in the same backfield and how powerful that can be with Edsall back behind the wheel.
