So I've noticed a couple BYers recently asking whether there was any video footage available of UConn's first Final Four team in action. I could've sworn that I once accidentally stumbled upon a 1991 season highlight video while poking around the fantastic uconnhuskygames.com website, but I was never able to find it again. After digging around there some more this morning, I finally rediscovered it. This is a video that Channel 8 put together reviewing the UConn men's and women's 1990-91 basketball seasons—the portion devoted to Geno, Kerry, and company begins around the 29:00 mark. Of course I wish they'd included some more game highlights, but there are a bunch of interviews with Geno and the players, and it's still pretty nice. And until somebody somewhere unearths and uploads an old VHS tape of one of the games from that year's Final Four run, this is probably as good as it's gonna get. Hope you all enjoy. :)

That was very cool, thank you for finding this! I like many people had never seen the team till cptv started broadcasting them, so this was a real treat.

Very interesting to see that Tonya Cardoza took the game away from us.

So great. Shame I had to skip so far forward to get to Geno's team.

Yeah exactly, I started watching the team with the first Tennessee game in '95, so I'm in the same boat and love seeing or learning anything from the earlier days of the program. It feels weird that the highlights in this video are the only game footage I've ever seen from that era, but hopefully some more will surface sometime in the future.

Wow! Thank you so much for finding and posting this. Loved seeing clips from the 1991 NCAA tournament, including the home win over Toledo, the two wins at the Palestra, and the loss to Virginia in the Final Four. Lots of cool interview clips with Geno, Kerry Bascom, Meghan Pattyson (that was trippy for me to see, as I'm only familiar with her from the SNY broadcasts), and Orly Grossman.

Also loved seeing the glimpses of Tonya Cardoza (who hit big free throws in UVa's win over UConn) and of course Dawn Staley.

Fake news---Fake news---There was some people I know--and these were not them: First the kid --shy almost bashful
with his chin on his chest as he spoke to the camera--they were passing him off as --get this--Geno Auriemma.
Then the announcer--terrible imitation of Bob Picozzi--I know Bob this isn't Bob.
Along comes two they tried to hand off as Meghan Pattyson and Tanya Cardoza--no way o'shay--that ain't them.
And the under hand shot at the basket???? When did Uconn ever do that??
Fake --just plain fake.

Thanks a Trillion (Millions are now chump change). it was a pleasure ride through a great time in Geno's past.
