    What are you binge watching?

I am not going to defend her, but the show does a good job of showing how complicated life was under Nazi occupation. Several members of my extended family were members of the Resistance in Holland, and they were incredibly brave, but they were just regular people so it was easier to hide...

Ranking the best players that Uconn has knocked out of the tournament.

Williams might be the best player UConn ever beat on the night UConn beat him. He had a great game against UConn, and the Huskies won that game by Arizona’s second 3 point attempt being a hair off at the buzzer.

Big East Proved NCAA Selection Committee “Wrong Again”

A lot of the MWC and P5 bubble teams sucked, and there is no defending that. St. John’s and Providence should have been invited.

OT: John Calipari to return as Kentucky men's basketball coach

I bet there are a lot of people who were in the room that day that regret stopping Chaney from pounding that smug little spit into hamburger.

Big East Proved NCAA Selection Committee “Wrong Again”

By the “performed according to seed” logic, why not give DePaul a 10 seed, then when they lose by 30, say “well they performed according to their seed” to justify inviting them?

Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

If UConn had joined the Big East instead of the AAC when the old Big East came apart, it would be in a power conference right now.

    Shogun (Hulu)

It gets better every week. I don't want it to end. George R.R. Martin has cited the War of the Roses as his inspiration for Game of Thrones, but a lot of his characters seem to have parallels with Shogun/Sengoku period. Toronaga (real-life Tokugawa Ieyasu) = Tywin Lannister Toda Mariko...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

A WR operates in a lot more open space than a cutter, so that is a bad comparison. Do you realize the other team is playing defense? You get that they are also trying to win, right? A 5 out is an exceptionally easy defense to defend, and the timing has to be perfect for it to work against...

UConn Holds the Record for Consecutive Double Digit Wins in the NCAA Tournament!

Do you think any media person has the power to make the opposite happen just by saying something on the air?

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

Obviously more skilled players are better than less skilled players, but thank you for that insight. When the two options are an imperfect center or a mediocre wing for the 4th or 5th player on the court, why would anyone want more wing? You don't need 5 players doing exactly the same thing...

    OT: Syracuse

The only other thing I have to say about Syracuse is that I am never going back to that city as long as I live.

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

Good players are good players, and everyone doesn't need to be the Joker. We are talking about making Edey part of an 8 man rotation when the alternatives are generally some version of a 6'6, mediocre shooting, mediocre defense wing.

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

It should translate. Edey is effective at both ends. If a team wants to run, it wants a tall rim protector that can get the rebound and fire an outlet down court. On the other end, it should want an offensive force down low that can pass and shoot at a high percentage and can challenge the...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

Bad analysis. A lot of those twos are shot clock bailouts or kamikaze drives to the hoop. I will be the first to agree that a full speed dribble drive from 30 feet out is a low percentage play which will result in a turnover or a low percentage shot. It is hard for the driver to maintain...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

In the West, the Nuggets were the worst team to win a title since Olajuwon's first title in Houston, but Denver has a center. The Timberwolves are one of the best teams in the west with basically three guys that can play, an old point guard with a lot of miles on his body, and a couple of OK...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

It wasn't taking a chance. Porzingis is awesome, everyone knew exactly what he was, and 95% of the league passed anyway, because they are morons. If I was an NBA owner, I would have fired my GM the day that trade was announced, because unless there is a major injury, the Celtics will rule the...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

The NBA is about offensive efficiency, not running up and down the court. There is nothing more efficient than a tall player that is one move away from a 60%+ shot, and if he misses it, has about a 45% chance of a rebound which will get him a 70% shot. Sanogo, Edey, and Clingan prove this...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

The NBA needs more teams that play 5 generic wings that jack low percentage 3's when they aren't making lower percentage kamikaze drives to the rim, because "analytics". The Porzingis for Smart trade may go down as the most lopsided trade in NBA history where there was not a rookie or young...

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

There are plenty of teams that dump draft picks at every turn, so my wisdom is not that unique. On the other hand, those that think putting 5 guys on the 3 point line and passing around the perimeter will generate scoring are going the way of the beeper salesmen.

People who only read this board might think shorter is better in basketball.
  22. nelsonmuntz

NBA not enthralled with Zach Edney

Yeah, the NBA needs more generic 6'6 wings jacking 3's at 33% (when they can get a shot off at all) than a 7'4 guy that will shoot 65% from the field and get to the line every third time he gets the ball. That is why so many of the current NBA GMs will be out of work in 5 years.

Big East Proved NCAA Selection Committee “Wrong Again”

The "well they performed according to expectations based on seed" argument is silly, especially when used to justify the most poorly selected field since the field went to 64 teams. Historically, the 8/9 games are tossups, and 7/10, 6/11 and 5/12 favor the high seed by 60%, 63% and 64%...

    San Diego State Scouting Report

There are some teams that have mediocre 3 pt shooting percentages because their opponents focus on stopping the 3, and there are teams like SDSU where they get open 3's and they just can't hit them. I also think SDSU relies too much on 1-on-1 dribble penetration to win at the Sweet 16 level...

    UConn -10

Illinois +2.5 looks good. Tennessee doesn't suck, but it definitely has a low ceiling. It is only 2.5 points, but Creighton is looking kind of tasty. UNC -3.5 isn't bad either. I don't think UNC is great, but I am not a fan of Bama.

    Tournament (Non-UConn) Thread - 2nd Round

What resume metrics did all these Big 12 teams have to not only get 9 bids, but get their high seeds? How about the MWC? Those two leagues, which got 15 bids between them, will send 2 and 1 respectively into the Sweet 16.
