Prognosticator's Predictions Game 27 Georgetown @Gampel SR Night

UConn wins 87-55. Bench plays most of 4th Q.

How Nika Mühl is putting together her best season 'by far'

Would comment that Nika has put together some of her best games of her career this year, particularly on offense. She is displaying a number of moves - mid-range jumper, drives, consistent 3 point shots - that we have never seen this consistently before. Unfortunately, her sloppy passes and...

    UConn - SC post game

Biggest concern was, similar to the ND game, no adjustments by UConn, particularly on defense. All year, the pick and roll at the top of the key has been an issue. Kudos to Edwards for strong game at both ends. She made mistakes but looked like a future pro the way she battled.

    Here in South Carolina.

I know much of the eastern part of SC is populated by a lot of folks like me with Northeast roots, but always a surprise to understand how few residents outside of the greater Columbia area appreciate what a great sports program Dawn Staley has built. Dawn has given top players a reason to go to...

How Nika Mühl is putting together her best season 'by far'

I believe Nina is having by far her best shooting year, which greatly enhances her pro draft chances. No longer being looked at as defensive only guard. I do feel her defense, especially against quick guards is average. Nika would be a dominate guard in Europe but more average on a US team...

    Morgan Cheli is Naismith Semi-Finalist

Most complete player - offense, defense, rebounding, etc. Can turn up the dial on any of these skills as needed.

    UConn-South Carolina game

Predict that the game will be determined by the number of mistakes UConn does or doesn't make. I believe our top 4 starters have a slight edge without Cardoso and if Nika can eliminate her bad passes and fouls, we should be very competitive for 90% of the game. If Ice and Q can just play solid...

    UConn - SJU post game

Nan, have been watching Ashlynn the past few games and I have the same question. Often open, she is regularly ignored. She often is guarded by the worst defender on the other team, making this more frustrating. Her shots typically come as the 4th or 5th option. Difficult to argue that she...

    UConn - SJU post game

Good, gritty win by UConn. Was shaking when St. John's had the ball, only down by 7. Despite St. John's having all the momentum and only being a few shots from taking the lead, Huskies, who must have been exhausted, buckled down and made a big run. Most of my comments were already captured so...

    Moriah Jefferson to Connecticut :-)

Would love to see her on UConn women's coaching staff. High energy and great resume.

Megan Gauer, Her Hoop Stats, bracketology, 2/1

I like these seedings. I couldn't have picked a better bracket myself.

    A Lesson Learned

Totally support your comment about "better team for one night." While ND exposed every flaw UConn has, if Paige was Paige, scoring another 10+ points, and our defense limited Hidalgo, we won by 10+. I would bet on both if UConn meets ND in playoffs.

Geno & team at home in (the town of) Villanova

This is about 2 minutes from where I used to live. Not the most elegant place in the Phila area so rarely any celebrity visitors. Geno's visit means a lot to the community. I started watching UConn women's basketball after one of Geno's first visits nearby after his 2nd year of coaching UConn.

    UConn - Villanova Post Game

While Q is naturally a great athlete and fast, as she gets more experience with the high Division 1 type of play, she will likely get more comfortable and become even quicker. As she gets stronger, Q likely will become a better rebounder and defender. In short, she is a typical freshman with...

    UConn - Villanova Post Game

While not always pretty, particularly the first half, UConn played great fundamental basketball. Old fashion pick and roles, hard picks, etc. were all on display. If you were a recruit that believed in this type of basketball (Big O are you listening?), few other places to go but UConn.

    Gandy Malou-Mamel

I interpreted the comment about being highly ranked in the state as another positive comment about Gandy and her team.

Bracketology - Week of January 30 (merged)

Put Huskies in any bracket but the one with SC and I will take my chances we can overcome height and substitute issues with hot shooting. Against SC, would throw out our relatively conservative offensive system and turn all of our 3 point shooters into Caitlin Clark clones, putting it up every...

    Gandy Malou-Mamel

I was thinking the same thing. I went back and looked at some videos of Cardosa and felt saying Gandy plays like her doesn't do Cardosa justice. Cardoso's footwork on both offense and defense is solid and has been her entire college career. Strong at moving without ball, particularly on pick...

AP Top 25 - UConn down to #11

While my expectations were reset a bit due to the ND game, but in any game against all but SC and Stanford, I would bet UConn to win. While trying not to over evaluate Huskies or under appreciate other team's skills, I view UConn' starting 5 to be better. Up to Geno to coach around some of the...

    Prognosticator's Predictions Game 22 @Villanova

UConn wins 81-62. Big enough lead in Q4 that Geno gives his tired starters a rest.
