We are all familiar with the phrase that football drives the bus in college sports. UConn can't ignore its football program.

Why do you say that when, as said here, most of the original AAC members got into a Power 5 conference? We failed to take it seriously. I do blame Herbst and her rock star, Manuel, for not doing enough to get UConn into the ACC a dozen years ago when we were the leading candidate. (And UConn...

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

Our friends on another site are doing a poll on which school the ACC may add, if any. UConn is an option. https://csnbbs.com/thread-988946.html

Ha Who: Rule No. 1 is going down the drain as realignment continues. UConn will get an offer to leave the Big East.

We are not talking about donations at the UConn level when it comes to Duke. Their alumni also believe in traditions. More than 90,000 Duke University alumni and friends gave nearly $543 million in fiscal year 2023

Good luck with that one. Duke likely would anger its alumni and other donors if it went B12. The amount of money they could lose by upsetting these generous folks is much more than what they would earn from the new conference when compared to ACC revenue. Just look at what happened with Harvard...

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

Here are some recent statements from NC/Va. politicians: "I really think Carolina and State ought to be in the same conference," said House Speaker Tim Moore, R-Cleveland. "I really think they ought to do that. And I think you’d have a lot of resistance to seeing them split off in different...

I don't have current numbers but I found online: The sports teams at Duke brought home $150,517,681 in revenue while shelling out $148,026,188 in expenses. In other words, the sports department made a profit of $2,491,493. This sounds much better than UConn.

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

State politicians forced UVA to get Va. Tech into ACC. Don't forget the power of politics. We at UConn haven't benefited from it that much.

Duke, like the Ivy League schools, has got lots of cash in their endowment. They don't need cash from realignment.

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

UVA and even UNC may stay in the ACC along with Va Tech and NC State. State politicians have a lot of sway. They are tied at the hip.

Not sure Duke even cares much about AAU. It may be more a question of prestige.

I don't think Duke would go to B12. It includes many schools with weak academic reputations.

I have a feeling UConn Women will win a national championship this year. That's even if they have to play and beat SC or Iowa.

We need to have some confidence in the future. I know all of us have gotten many kicks in the gut, especially if we are UConn football fans. But either the ACC, or less likely the B12, may send us an invite soon. It's not for a foreclosure sale. It's to be a member at one of the top conferences...

In recent years, the B10 and SEC added two teams at the same time. Not more. The two were linked as rivals or geographically. The B12 has a different approach but they are getting pretty full. So I can see six or so schools in the ACC finding a spot in another conference. Others will likely to...

What is the end game in a P2 world?

Here's one prediction: UConn goes into ACC within 1 to 3 years. 12 years from now we are asked to join AAU and have a top 30 football program and remain powerhouses in mens and womens basketball. B10 asks us to join.

Maybe you can reconsider your comment when considering a weak football team, Kansas, became a top 25 program. That should be UConn's goal.

Drew raises some very important points. UConn's Board of Trustees has to realize that a competitive football program will help improve the university on several fronts. Almost all of the nation's leading public research universities have FBS football programs and many of them are very...
