Who were your childhood bball heroes?

Kobe, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, and Anderson Varejao. Rashad Andersen was probably my favorite Husky.

    UConn Men's Basketball Schedule 2024-2025

I bet Dayton because we are the defending champs and they are arguably the weakest brand.

Texas just went to the playoff last year. They will be fine.

    Borges confirmed: Hass is staying

I could write a book on the amount of times I played in Guyer. That was a fun time. I got to regularly play against practice squad players (both for the men’s and women’s teams), baseball players, and football players. There were probably about 300-500 people that played in the gym over the...

    Portal Prognostications

Diarra may not use his last year of eligibility. He could go to Europe. I expect him to come back but he would be a fifth-year player.

    UConn Men's Basketball Schedule 2024-2025

I assume the rest of the games will be against cupcakes. I expect two of those to be against HBCUs. My preference is Howard and Hampton. I would also like to see us play Yale and one other top-end Ivy League program (Princeton, Cornell, or Harvard). Finally, I would like to see us play one...

Why haven’t the Big 12-Big East Battle matchups been announced yet?

I would be fine with this if the Texas game in 25/26 was at XL.

UConn and Texas finalizing a H/H Agreement

P5 H/H with brand name opponent. Hope we get Kansas at home for Big 12- Big East battle. Would like to see Yale at home and other good Ivy team at home.

Wabi-sabi of basketball: or, "inferior" is better (sometimes)

The NBA stylistically is awful. I haven’t really watched in about 15 years and I’m not alone. Viewership is down almost 50% since when Jordan retired.

Why haven’t the Big 12-Big East Battle matchups been announced yet?

Your two explanations were issues for the Big 12 last year as well.

Why haven’t the Big 12-Big East Battle matchups been announced yet?

This upcoming season is the last season.

Why haven’t the Big 12-Big East Battle matchups been announced yet?

They were announced on April 6 of last year. Something smells fishy.

Virginia passes law to allow schools to pay players directly

Hopefully this forces the NCAA to implement this nationwide by July 1.

    The Next Shocks

The state flagships will be fine (and that includes WVU). If people have heard of your school nationally, you will probably be okay.

    Reality vs fear

Several things are going to happen shortly that will actually help UConn (and the Big East). 1. Big East TV negotiations are going well 2. NCAA tournament will likely expand to 72 or 76 teams We will be fine.

Who gets to 12 titles first?

What I understand is that there are only 10-12 good programs in WBB. You basically get a bye to the Sweet 16 and then need to win two games. A decade ago there were only about 6-8 programs so you got a bye to the Elite 8 and needed to win one game. This isn’t to say that what Geno has done isn’t...

Who gets to 12 titles first?

    We’re not Duke.
  21. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

I think Dan gets 2-3 in the next decade. Geno is 0-8 getting titles the least eight years and they didn't have injury woes every season. He doesn’t have the recruiting edge he used to have.
  22. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

Hurley is in his early 50s. Geno is about 70. He’s almost done and other programs have caught up.
  23. shizzle787

    The Next Shocks

Syracuse will be fine. Most top 100 schools will be fine. I would not want to be a private school in the bottom third of Division 1 or in any of the other divisions unless you are prestigious.
  24. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

They got lucky the #2 seed in their region lost. They were favored in every matchup until the Final 4.

    The Next Shocks

    See CCSU and Charter Oak….
  26. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

They would have lost to SC even if healthy.
  27. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

Getting to the Final Four is not winning a title.
  28. shizzle787

Who gets to 12 titles first?

Geno’s old and they haven’t won a title in 8+ seasons. I’m not sold they are winning another one anytime soon.

With the demise of the Pac-12, here are my projections for the relative rankings of the top dozen basketball leagues for 24/25: 1. Big 12 2. SEC 3. Big Ten 4. Big East 5. ACC 6. MW 7. WCC 8. AAC 9. A-10 10. MVC 11. Ivy 12. WAC

    Reorganizing the NCAA's three divisions

No but FCS costs money and if you create a third subdivision that will cost even more to organize an additional championship.

    Reorganizing the NCAA's three divisions

Division 1 is about performance AND prestige.

    Reorganizing the NCAA's three divisions

I don’t think so. More championships mean higher costs for the NCAA.
