I saw Tom Moore in Norwalk Saturday afternoon. With Tom & Hurley both not on campus, that would seem odd they had their top offseason priority visiting while they were not on campus...?
You realize he returned in that very game where “he saw his career flash before him”, right? I don’t see why he would stay on campus, travel with the team if he’s done this yr - especially during current Covid conditions.
Gaffney sure looks taller than 6-2 standing next to B Adams and Bouknight who are both listed at 6-4. I think we're going to be real pleased with Gaffney this year and certainly beyond.
I have the feeling tough conversations are beginning to take place. I don't see why he would wait this long to tweet subliminal messages unless there are other's that feel the same...
Do we know the extent of his "eye injury"? Also, I think this is positive news. Hurley strikes me very much as the type to hold out information as long as possible to not help his opponent prepare.
At their respective positions, there are just as many limitations for B. Adams as Whaley. Neither bring enough strengths to outweigh their limitations at the aspired level of play Hurley is striving for. Not sure what Hurley's plan is with B. Adams but some could argue Whaley could help this...
I saw Montverde play in person last weekend. Beverly is a stud - needs to fill out a bit more, but he's a play maker.
Precious dominated in that game hitting from deep, moved without the ball well and got into passing lanes on D. Guy plays above the rim and has nice touch with elite athleticism.
But if the purpose is to upgrade talent, in which area does B Adams provide that upgrade? Size? Sure. But outside of that it appears he doesn't fit for the level of talent everyone expects.
I agree that it's unrealistic to expect impact freshman each year. However, when Hurley evaluated the make-up of the roster he was inheriting, and the end-goal was to retain those that wanted to stay, but ultimately upgrade the talent in upcoming classes, why would you tie up a 4 yrs scholarship...
To be clear, I'm neither pro Hurley or Ollie, I just think this fan base deserves a respectable product that doesn't tarnish it's reputation, of what's left that is. Occasional NCAA tournament misses can be dealt with, but it would appear we're further away from MAKING an NCAA tournament again...
Not that WBB brings in a ton of revenue but they certainly carry more than their weight with increasing the brand awareness of UConn, but wait till Geno retires. We better hope Hurley has MBB on the rise (which I think he will), but more importantly fball has to be winning more than 1...
I think that last but about making a run for a National Championship speaks volumes about the respect he has for Hurley and the UConn brand. Hope we can gain the commitment in the early signing period. Puts a lot of pressure on Hurley & Co. if we walk away this fall with just Bouknight and...
That's because the UConn brand should get highly rated recruits interested and visit, but it takes a closer to seal the deal. KO was not a closer, too weak.
