Remembering how great Caroline can be

When 100%," Sweet Caroline" has demonstrated she is All-American talent. She carried the team as a freshman! I hope she regains her form.

    Good fit for Inés?

Inez deserves a shot, somewhere - anywhere. She more than paid her dues on the pines for UConn, and was a great teammate. Players want to play. Wish her all the best!

Incredible UConn basketball stats! Congrats to the UConn men!

Seems like there are just too many "generationals" going around these days! Every year it's another "generational" player. It loses it meaning after a while.

    Tara Vanderveer Retires (merged)

Congrats to Tara on her retirement, and outstanding career. Way to go out; on top, no fanfare, and no retirement tour! Classy. That being said, make book there is a whole community really angry Geno is still coaching and will soon break her all time wins record!

    UConn offense

Men cut way harder, move constantly, and crash boards with abandon! They have a legitimate big in the middle, and shooters who are lights out! They dictate their opponents offense with their defense. A completely different type of finesse. They are nasty!

Breanna, D and Sue + guests- topic: do you need a natty to be one of the greatest?

GOAT is singular. Only one person can be the GOAT. This term gets thrown out too liberally. Clark is a great player, greatest scorer for now, great passer and great competitor. Is she the greatest team mate, greatest defensive player, greatest sport, greatest championship winner? GOAT, no way!

Which Would Make You Feel Bettet About UConn's Loss To Iowa?

The GOAT talk will be forever nullified with the loss to SC. Sorry folks, but just the way sports talk works!

    South Carolina getting hosed

Not a SC fan, but I agree 100%. The refs protect Clark, and it is woefully obvious!

USA Today: A terrible call ruined a perfect ending to Iowa and UConn's Final Four matchup and fans are livid

The call, and it was a correct call, did not cost the Huskies the game. They did not execute enough over the course of the game so they wouldn’t have put themselves in that position at the end of the game. Great effort overall, but UConn needed a close to perfect game. Came close, but not close...

What does it mean getting Sarah

Been away for a while with limited Internet access. Hence, no posts about the last few games. However, when I got back on line this morning and saw Sarah Strong committed, the planets are back in alignment for the next few years! Also, very proud of the women for their FF run!

Ayanna, because she barely gets a mention anymore!

    Expectations

Take it easy, feller. You’re correct, we are spoiled, and expect to compete for a championship every year. Nowhere said not getting one is a failure, or slamming the team. Geno has said it many times, he created a monster, and expectations are unreal, but they still are expectations. Make book...

    Expectations

I realize your post is rubbing a few the wrong way, but it is the reality of the expectations for many of us, and the team, also. Everyone is super proud of this team, and Geno has done a remarkable job this year. The bar is set high for a reason! Like they say, “ It is, what it is!”

UConn vs. Syracuse post game - on to the sweet 16!

Took a while to get my heart rate down before I could post. The Orange are a good lot. I believe they beat ND 2x this season. Paige was spectacular, but needs to shoot more in games like this. Edwards looked out of sorts at times. Ashlynn is a killer! Nika simply can't continue to make bonehead...

UConn vs Jackson State postgame thread

UConn vs Jackson State postgame thread

Thumbs sore from "flicking with the clicker" trying to watch too many games at once. Nice, neat win for the Huskies, Paige could go for 40+ a game if she choses. Edwards didn't take kindly to the rough play, and sent a nice message. Steady, Eddy Ashlynn didn't sit a minute, and kept on tickin"...

    AP Awards

Agree with all above regarding Edwards, A real slap in the face. The only consolation is Reese not getting 1st team, which takes the sting somewhat out of the Edwards slap!

Analysis and Comments - UConn vs Jackson State - Round of 64

Very nicely done, thanks. Me thinks this will be a "breathe easy" game.

Another Fairfieldesque type program. Nothing there, no problem!

    Fairfield Game

@cabbie191, I meant a top notch girl's team would beat them, say Archbishop Mitty (CA), Long Island Lutheran, Montverde Academy (FL), Etiwanda (CA), and a host of other top shelf teams. Not a knock on Fairfield, they just don't have any thoroughbreds to ride!
  26. topogigio

    Fairfield Game

Great season for the Stags, and they deserve props for an outstanding record. However, after watching them play for the first time yesterday, they are not a “quality” team. They play hard, and are well coached, but a top notch HS program would beat them. Other than the auto bid, they don’t...

This is where College sports are headed and it's not a good thing

NIL, and unionization will prove to be the end to major college sports as we know it, particularly football and basketball. It simply will not be sustainable. Minor league professional sports leagues and training programs for 17-20 years olds will fill the niche, and colleges and universities...

    Who will Sarah Strong pick?

Not just one game, definite a pattern, not just with these 2 teams against each other, but against other teams. Do a bit of research on YouTube. Lot's o' stuff there.

    Who will Sarah Strong pick?

Me thinks the shenanigans going on the court with LSU and SC are going to have top notch recruits think long and hard about their choice. Especially if they are the well rounded student/athlete/great kid model.

OT: Georgetown names Darnell Haney head coach

Glad to see Haney's hiring was made official, but @oldude said the quiet part out loud. There is such a huge push today to have women take coaching positions in men's sports, that consideration of a male as a coaching candidate for a women's sport should be irrelevant. Just get the best...

    What a day!

Not surprised at all. While at the final four a few years ago in Minneapolis, I was sitting in the poolside whirlpool with a handful of women who were big time Stanford and Tara fans. One was a former US Olympian in Handball from the early 80's and another was a longtime high school PE teacher...

    It will be Georgetown

Ugly, ugly game. Georgetown lost their "sixth man of the year" player at the end of the game. Very hard to watch. I believe this was G-Town's 3rd game, so hopefully they will be nice and tired tomorrow night!
