I thought UConn handled Olsen well this season. Kept her below her scoring average. I don't know how she would do against competition that is not Big East.
I think Geno needs to find a consistent pull up shooter. Ice, Nika, and Griffin are not that player. Someone is needed to shoot off a screen or create a mid-range shot that they can make consistently. I don't care if that player is Ines, pressure has to be lifted from Paige and Aliyah. I am old...
Just wanted to point out that Minnesota was not a cupcake and is coached very well. Before yesterday's game they were 3-0. Nika was responsible as was Griffin in keeping the go to MN player struggling to score. That is always Geno's strategy, even before Kelly and Kia.
The players of today as they hit the majors still look young. But, they are much bigger than yesteryear. There were exceptions like Gene Conely of Phils, Ted Kluzewski of the Reds, Moose Skowron of the Yankees. Please ignore spelling.:)
A couple of things from last night's game:
Lynx made Stewie's night miserable. Played her rough.
I think I mentioned it before, but coach kept Dorka in during crunch time.
I wish McBride would be a consistent in her scoring like she was last night.
Dorka's pro experience is a feel good story. What happens when Ace and Shepherd come back? I think someone has to go. I am thinking Natalie Achonwa may be odd person out.
Coach Reeve noticed what I did in the first half. Collier was not getting the touches she was supposed to get if she were the first option. Dorka played outside setting picks and didn't think about taking it to the hole. That all changed in the second half.
Also, Nneka was not getting touches...
I'm sorry, but the 1964 Phillies up 5 1/2 with 12 games to go and blew the pennant. Gene Mauch threw his aces with two days rest which was a disaster. Aces = Jim Bunning and Chris Short. Cardinals went to the World Series.
The Monday after Easter, I was walking my neighborhood in southeastern PA at 8:30 in morning. I looked up in the sky and counted 15-20 vapor trails. It seems most air traffic was headed West with a few headed North. It was a very unique sight for me.
Come to think of it, the balls used seemed to be inflated to the max. Dribblers had the ball coming up to their chins with no effort. The missed 3 pointers that clanged of the iron about ricocheted to half court line. JMO
Jeff Walz has the attitude that we are not just going to beat the press to get it over the timeline, but we are looking to score as usually you get a 2 on 1.
