I don't know when FSU will finally figure a way out of the GOR, but clearly they want out because they believe their football program is at a distinct disadvantage in the ACC. When that happens then the barn door is open and I think UVA and UNC end up in the BiG. FSU probably ends up in the...

Dave Portnoy places 600k bet on UConn

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is a marketing scheme and that much of his $600K bet is in-kind service. I personally scratch my head to the attraction to the guy, but he certainly has a following.

    The transfer portal opens today

Totally agree. The coaches, athletic departments and school presidents should all be ashamed of themselves for their greed. That's what lead to where we are today. With leadership, the kids could have been much better treated and a level playing field (more or less) could have been maintained...

Of course it is. That's what 18-19 year olds do without a little discipline and structure.

    The transfer portal opens today

Gee, clever, first time that post has ever been used.... I've been a fan for over 40 years, this model of college athletics is very disappointing to me. What can I say. Carry on.......

    The transfer portal opens today

Oh..... and btw, a lot of kids are going to get hurt in this process. Instead of sticking with a good program and coach who will instill discipline they will take the easy way out and most likely stunt their development.

    The transfer portal opens today

Unfettered free agency.......that's where we are heading. Teams with access to the most money will acquire and retain the most talent. As this process matures it will be grotesque for those of us who experienced college athletics over the past 30-40 years. Honestly, it doesn't hold any...

What is the end game in a P2 world?

The argument that the P2 end up with a whopping share of a market that is smaller to some degree makes perfect sense to me. That’s a business strategy that holds no appeal to me as a fan of college athletics. In the long run I think a lot of fans move away from this model…….and it’s going to...

What is the end game in a P2 world?

I know one fan who is rapidly losing interest in college athletics……me! That includes my interest in UCONN athletics. The uneven playing field brought on by conference realignment, NIL and the portal, where success will be driven primarily by access to money, is killing what I used to love...

As college football's elite is engulfed in a power struggle, G5 left just trying to survive: 'We are a farm system'(Ross Dellenger @ Yahoo)

Exactly, suggesting that the BiG took in Rutgers because of market demographics.......god knows it was't because of football prowess ;)

As college football's elite is engulfed in a power struggle, G5 left just trying to survive: 'We are a farm system'(Ross Dellenger @ Yahoo)

I can assure you it did for the BiG when they went into LA, NY/NJ and Maryland. The BiG and SEC are looking at a pro franchise sports model to grow. If you are on the outside looking in and in smaller markets you should be nervous. ND might be the exception in terms of a national brand……maybe….

I think the BiG has their eye on Virginia and UNC. Wouldn’t surprise me if the SEC is not enamored with Clemson and FSU. They may feel they already have the presence they need in those markets. Will be interesting to see if ND waits too long and gets boxed out.

    UConn and the bubble

Never understood the big deal about this with the NCAA. I'm sure Sellers simply thought Laettner's head was the basketball as he bounced it off the floor repeatedly.

    OT. Crypto

All the metals and gems you reference do have utility outside of being a sudo-store of value for exchange. They are also highly speculative as investments or hedges. As an aside, I don't think anyone has done particularly well holding gold over the last ten-twenty years. As for the USD, some...

    OT. Crypto

Nothing you stated here provides a basis for valuation of crypto currency. It's simply based on what the next bidder is willing to offer. Companies utilizing blockchain techonology to build a service model that can be monetized is very different from a pure crypto currency play. I would not...

As college football's elite is engulfed in a power struggle, G5 left just trying to survive: 'We are a farm system'(Ross Dellenger @ Yahoo)

I do see this as a scenario and I think it is potentially favorable to UCONN and its fanbase. You can see where regional rivalries drive a lot of interest. It would be great to play BC, Syracuse, UMass in some type of conference format. Holds a lot more interest for me than watching NFL-Light...

I don't think anyone can be surprised by this and it's not just the G5 at a disadvantage. The lower tier P4 programs that cannot put together the NIL programs of the elite programs will also be at a distinct disadvantage. Will they have the resources to protect their best talent and also...

BC’s Hafley takes job as Packers DC

I don't care how good a coach BOB is, BC isn't going anywhere. They will remain uncompetitive for top recruits as the school is simply not committed to competing at the highest level of college athletics.

    UConn’s Vulnerabilities Heading To Postseason

There aren't many absent a rash of injuries. Defense and good guard play carry you through these tournaments. UCONN certainly has that.
