Even as a SG he's a better prospect IMO. Rob is a sparkplug at best, a ballhog at worst and a horrid defender. Reed is great offensively and he has fantastic defensive metrics but gets lost both off and on the ball if you watch him. I can't recall a play Castle got lost on defense. Beaten...
A) movement at this point in the season is not that big. 3/17 Kenpom had the following (I don't have 3/18 or 3/19 unfortunately but those days shouldn't factor in much):
1) UConn (same now unless noted going forward)
2) Houston
3) Purdue
4) Auburn (Still at 4)
5) ISU (7th now)
6) Zona (5th)
7)...
Yeah, though I think part of the confusion is that they say Creighton plays a drop coverage. Really though, at least against UConn, Kalkbrenner often does play a one man zone. Edey plays "drop" similar to Kalkbrenner. Both being stronger but slower defenders.
Clingan plays it the way it's...
Ledee is a very good player. Not sure Clingan has faced anyone like him in a year. Closest is probably that dude he used to have to go against every day in practice last year.
Except Sanogo was better and three years younger.
Damn Ledee is almost 25.
Bigs like Leedee can score on Clingan, they have actually done decently against him this year, but they rarely can do enough to win the game alone. If SDSU comes back down off their shooting high nobody else scares me on that team.
And yet of the top 14 on Kenpom, 13 are in the sweet sixteen. SDSU is #17, Clemson 23. NC State is the only really bugaboo at #52 but then again they are a surprise 11 seed who got the Auto bid.
Aztec fans have to hate UConn more than Duke or UK fans. There is a legit argument UConn has stopped them from winning two NCs (I do think their 2011 team was that good) and Duke/UK at least have their other NCs to remember.
I will say it is good UConn is winning games without shooting well (poorly even) because we all know shooting usually goes down in the final four stadium. Not being reliant on the three is not a bad thing.
It's even more impressive they did it against 6 of the teams. UConn's win total is a bit skewed by being 3-0 against MU. Give Purdue their props for their year, they have been been very good all season.
The Sweet Sixteen.
Only seed below a 6 seed is NC State. This is a super chalk bracket overall. Clemson is the only other seed below a five seed (a toss up with a four usually in the round of 32), and they are a 6 seed. 10 of the top 12 seeds made it through (B12 Baylor and SEC UK missed...
Next year will be an interesting one in Friartown with Carter/Oduro/Gaines gone and Hopkins coming off his injury. Hopkins will need to be better than Carter was just for them to be decent. They have a starting lineup of:
Pierre
Floyd
Barron
Hopkins
Castro
With zero proven bench. They need...
So of the teams UConn played this year so far UNC, Creighton, KU, Gonzaga and Texas all through.
KU vs Gonzaga to the S16. UNC has a pretty tough game against MSU perhaps.
Creighton should also go against Oregon. Texas gets Tennessee though.
I don’t want a BE team if possible until the final four. They are the only teams really intimate with UConns sets them aside I’ll answer when I see the bracket.
Scheyer apologizing to the crowd is just something else. Maybe he should go apologize to UNC for the same crowd throwing things at them. Dude just doesn't have the killer in him as a coach. Say what you will about Ratface but he was tough.
Hard to tell how good a coach English is when he is riding Carter so much. The on/off for Carter is probably the highest in the BE among guards if not overall. They are really quite bad when he is on the bench. Other coaches ride great players too but Carter isn't even his recruit.
Not a bad new UConn pod at all in terms of production. Very solid hosting too. Have to see if it can grow with any interesting takes, or interviews down the road.
