You all know how much I love Nika. I'm going to miss her so much but she has decided it is time for her to move on. I'll be following her WNBA career for sure.
The Croatian Sensation. Nika The Gnat. The player who has never, ever fouled. The defender who has driven both her coach and her...
Been dreading this game. SC has so many weapons and they don't shy away from the physical stuff either.
1. No injuries.
2. No injuries
3. No injuries.
UConn simply cannot afford to lose another player. I know Paige has put on muscle & is stronger than previous seasons but she's still pretty...
As much as I love Nika you are spot on here. She looked like freshman Nika out there.
Nika simply cannot play like that anymore, the team needs her too much. She let them down.
I'm not surprised and I'm sorry her recovery isn't going as well as she & all of us wanted to the point where she had to make the decision to shut it down for this season.
She made the right decision hard as it is. This isn't just about her basketball career it is about her health going forward...
I'm so happy to find this thread!!!:)
I've loved her since her freshman year- her toughness, grit, moxie whatever you want to call it just stood out to me from the start.
She was Nika the Gnat, the Croatian Sensation making life hell for the opposition with her suffocating defense without...
First game I ever saw on tv was in the fall of 1994 when CPTV started broadcasting. I can't remember who the other team was though.
Took my mom to Gampel to see them play North Carolina in 2001 (?)
To me this is so important- everybody is contributing so the burden doesn't fall so heavily on Paige & AE. They (hopefully) will not be so worn down in March.
Very happy for Ines & Amari, they played very well and hopefully they will build on it.
Ended up watching the rest of the game on YouTube last night. Right now I have a tendency to fall asleep while watching tv I'm still feeling the after effects of the surgery. I've been told to be more patient but it's hard.
Anyway.
What.a.game. by my girl Nika. I love that's she shooting more...
I'm a big Aaliyah fan but unless she returns to last season's form I don't see her going that high. So far this season she's had consistency issues. I realize her job is tougher since she's basically their only big/inside player this season but I know she's capable of being better than she has been.
My answer to #1 is yes- Paige is much bigger/stronger now, all that work in the weight room is paying off.
#2- If Geno is only going with 6 players they're not going far, they'll be too tired/beat up by tournament time. The youngsters have to step up & force Geno to play them.
If it were up to me I'd have Jamelle give master classes in rebounding. She's "only" 6-0 but she often out rebounded taller players during her time at UConn. She was outstanding at getting in the right spot to pick off a rebound- that spot was hers and nobody was going to move her off of it...
1 Ashlynn to continue playing with confidence.
2.The entire team: Move-there's too much standing still waiting for Paige to do her thing. Paige is still working her way back mentally. Make it easier for her by moving so she can hit you with a pass.
3. Aaliyah to be a rebound machine on both...
IMO while Paige is physically there w/r/t her game she's not yet there mentally. It's tough, she hasn't played in actual games in well over a year but I think in time she'll be OK.
Ashlynn had a great game.
Loved the Muhl sisters hug at the end of the game. :)
I don't care how good your team is you cannot allow your opponent to build a 15-3 lead and expect to still win the game. I can't recall a UConn team ever doing this. The defense simply wasn't there & Texas ran away with the game. I don't want to hear about the near great comeback- if the Huskies...
Caroline's situation reminds me of what hockey player Marc Savard endured after suffering several concussions in his career. The last concussion wasn't from a huge hit just a regular check but the after effects lasted a few years- headaches, seeing lights, dizziness, etc. the whole post...
IMO one of the biggest problems is we fans are so spoiled- for the longest time we got the most of the best players available and won 11 national championships including 4 straight. Now anything less than the Final Four is considered a bad season .
Now things have changed as they always do...
