I’ve read exactly none of this thread so far, but this team is an absolute joke. The idea that UConn will be anything other than a five hundred team in the Big East and a bubble team for the tournament is about as wishful as thinking gets. Hurley has shown zero ability to develop his teams into...

Disagree, a lot. Hawkins’s handle is atrocious. His deficient mentality is a side effect of that, and the first time his lack of confidence showed up was after that bad turnover in OT against Auburn.
I tried to catch as much of the media reaction to the non-call as I could this morning. It was very easy to tell who watched the game and who just watched the super-slo-mo replay of those last five seconds over and over again (probably on their cellphones). To put it as simply as possible, if...
With the depth this team has, it’s clear to me that defensive effort is going to be the main distinguishing factor impacting who gets minutes and who doesn’t, as the season develops. That means the defense is going to improve, bigtime.
I agree completely, Maya Moore is a special human being. The only issue with your post: she didn’t walk away from her career for a cause. She did it for another human being. God bless her. God reward her. She makes me proud to be a Uconn fan.
Never been to Country Cow. Probably because I live in New Haven, and there’s no need to go as far as Fairfield when the all-time best egg sandwich (with smoked Gouda and pepper-bacon) can be found at Scratch Baking in Milford (on Main Street).
Full disclosure: my daughter bakes the rolls...
I wasn’t going to say this because I heard it second-hand, but since you started this thread...
A guy who goes who lives in his dorm told me that Bouk is working on a vaccine, right now, as we speak!
This was so fun to watch. My only beef is that Akok didn’t make the list. He had some top-ten blocks this season, no doubt. Not as sexy as a dunk, maybe, but often a more athletic play.
He fought his way back from tough injuries and played his ass off for us. A true Husky who helped bring the program back. May his path forward be blessed.
The bright side:
Not only did the season not end in a loss, but by most assessments it ended with the team at its peak. The takeaway for most people from this UCONN team going forward will be, they were the hottest and the most dangerous team in the conference and they likely got robbed of an...
Good moment at the 32 minute mark: Hurley is asked about his passion coming out during the games, and he says “It’s sports, man. We’re not in a boardroom, it’s sports. I love it. And anyone who’s turned off by the way I react can kiss my ass. It’s sports.”
Best game winner in CBB history? You can’t be serious. It was the second round of the big east tournament. The game was tied. Heck, that play was vintage Kemba, brilliantly called by Calhoun, and a great memory because of what followed it, but it doesn’t even make the top three game winners...
On an irrelevant note, I met Hardaway in the hotel bar across from XL on Saturday night, watching the end of Tulsa/Houston, and he couldn’t have been a nicer guy. When getting up to leave he offered to change the channel for me since I’d come in after him. Wished him luck on Sunday even though...
I was at the game and saw that official raise his hand and move the whistle to his mouth. In the moment I thought he was going to call the foul, but maybe you’re right in saying he had a travel. It seemed to me like he changed his mind after looking at the other ref, who was making the “game...
