Any chance Roberson is hurt and they were waiting the extra few days from their earlier commitment to announce the QB to see if he could go?

The only thing this team doesn't have

They also don’t have Corey Floyd, Rashool Diggins, Akok, and Gaffney. Which at one point was the end of the universe!! Calcaterra, Newton, Diarra and Alleyne are all guys who could’ve been a 1 or 2 option somewhere but we’re okay sacrificing personal gain for betterment of the team. It’s...

Any chance we can install a passing game before next Saturday?

Most exciting part of this coaching staff and team is that they’ve left so much still to be desired and so much room for improvement and somehow still sit here with 5 Wins. Truly found a formula that they believe (and has proven) keeps them in games and gives them a chance to win but doesn’t...

    Rahsool Diggins transferring (merged threads)

Is Richie springs not a miss because he’s still with the program? Or is it because he wasn’t a 5 star recruit? Not sure how you gauge something as a “miss” without a sample size to understand what you hypothetically could have missed out on

    Rahsool Diggins transferring (merged threads)

All this says to me is that Floyd is much further along than expected, there is a portal guy expected to enroll, or both. Programs have turnover, can’t expect every kid these days to play the long game - unrealistic to have expectations that every recruit will come year one and be game ready or...

    Simple Fix

Goes without saying, but Hurley likes the current lineup because it’s the best defensive lineup and he’s comfortable with defensive, knock down, drag it out basketball games… we have the ability to score more points I’m just not sure that’s the type of game Hurley is comfortable coaching in

    Marquette Post Game Thread

It feels like they want to make sure no one fouls out/picks up fouls early on, then once it starts to matter they call fouls. Your classic mens league reffing philosophy when both teams only have 5 guys lol.

Hurley wore out his own team

This is a really terrible take and I don’t have the energy to defend why but anyone who’s watched basketball before will agree

    Providence Post Game Thoughts

As much as everyone’s gotten all over Hurley for his lineups and mid game adjustments - he looks like a genius for whatever mental reset sending Cole to the bench resulted in. Kids been a different player since then.

    Does UConn Make the Tournament

    UConn- lineup & thoughts

It’s been really tough for Polley after his 3 breakout games. I suspect his role and shooting becomes more important and gets back on track when Bouk comes back - he gives us the ability to spread the floor and guys can’t drape themselves all over him and give James the lane that easy

Hurley Costs Us Another Game. Will the reporters ask some tough questions?

50% from the field, 50% from three and 86% from the free throw line but Hurley didn’t call a timeout!! Give some credit where credit is due, It felt like seton hall hit every big shot and quite frankly threw in a lot of junk. Chalk it up as one of those days - the fact that we continue to...

We win this game if we have any sort of an offensive system

I was shocked we didn’t target the 7’2 big with ball screens and draw him out to the top of the key. Ultimately he wasn’t a big factor in the game but for the love of god you need to put someone like that in uncomfortable situations and make him move around more

    This is a good team

Can’t go without saying - when the starters game back into the game after that hodge podge reserve lineup sparked the run, they didn’t miss a beat. Kudos to them for staying ready when their numbers were called - sign of maturity.

    Chief’s Briefs - Creighton Edition

On the ball screens at the top of the key Creighton hedged super hard with their bigs and the window was too small to throw it into our bigs cause the week side defender was making the correct rotation and coming over. If we skip to the opposite corner it’s wide open, problem is none of the guys...

    Chief’s Briefs - USC Edition

I think we really struggle to get momentum to push the ball up and down without Akok on the floor. His blocked shots were a shot of adrenaline on both ends. DH has done it a few times over the past few years out of timeouts, but in search of momentum and a spark, we run a back screen alley oop...

    So the offense doesn't work

Big East is a man to man league, teams are not going to play zone like UHart and CCSU. Yes you prepare for it to be a wrinkle in a game plan, but with this season of unknowns, teams only have 3-4 days to prep for the opponent at hand. Not sure Hurley has been stressing beating a zone in the...

    Chief’s Briefs - Hartford Edition

    Hurley/Gilbert

If AG was the player that everyone anticipated and hoped he would be, then you’re patient as Hurley and you hope he breaks out of it, and you’re in win now mode...The last 4 games have resulted in a hard pivot from bubble post season birth to another year of rebuild. After that happens you focus...

UConn has played well short handed before

Lol god forbid we credit good defense and taking care of the ball. Only 9 TO’s, 9 Steals, 6 blocks. Shot 36% from the field and still won by 15

    Personnel Needs for Next Season

Anything that continues to feed the Hurley formula is a personnel need. Hurley very much follows the Calhoun mindset that your best offense is your ability to apply pressure, generate steals and blocks and get easy buckets on the break on the other end. We need to continue to add guys who are...
