    PAC dysfunction

Michigan and OSU have already pushed back on playing Friday games. Michigan didn’t even play a home night game until 2011 and the lights weren’t permanent at the time (they are now). Penn State might fight it as well. Anybody else is fair game.

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

Sure, they would love for them to stay together. Yet none of the quotes above signal they would be able to stop or even try to stop either from leaving the ACC. Even if they did say they would prevent movement, politicians say almost anything to get and keep votes. They would lose votes if they...

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

That’s a different story. That’s strong-arming to bring up a school to a conference that UVA was a part if (even had a higher level of influence). The Virginia legislature would have no pull with the SEC. As said above, Washington-WSU and Oregon-OSU were supposedly tied to the hip. UCLA and Cal...

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

Do they? The only instance when they did keep someone from leaving was Texas to the PAC and I’m not sure Texas really wanted to go. Will the state politicians be willing to tick off the UNC and UVA alumni/fans by holding them together? They could, but will they?

Fox - Big East exclusive negotiating window

But how does this show basketball being more important? If the football powers of the ACC all leave for greener pastures (and basketball powers if UNC leaves), wouldn’t that show that basketball is less important? Didn’t the football powers of the Big12 leave? As far as UConn joining a power...

ACC replacement list: UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State

Just a couple of quick questions, who in the Big East is important to UConn? What teams are most important for you to keep playing? Also, what non Big10/SEC BCS football schools would you want to be in a conference with?

Fox - Big East exclusive negotiating window

Are you talking about UConn in particular or college sports in general. I completely agree with your statement if it’s about UConn. You all are the most important team in the country and as long as you keep winning, it will stay that way. If you are talking about the college sporting world...

Fox - Big East exclusive negotiating window

I think the players know the outcome, just not the details. They know who is leaving the ACC and where they are going. They also know who the ACC replacements are. Would you all be happy in an ACC without FSU, UNC and the others? Is the Big East that important to you all?

UMass > MAC for all sports in 2025-2026

Yet being in the A10 has not been successful. 1 NCAA tournament since 1998, didn’t make the tournament the year they went 24-9 and were A10 regular season co-champs and their attendance has been dismal since 2014. Over the last 6 years, they have had 3 games (out of 93) that over 5000 attended...

UMass > MAC for all sports in 2025-2026

Here’s a thought about basketball in the long run. The last time UMass was in the tournament was 2014 and back to 1998 for the previous time. They were regular season co-champions in 2007 with a 24-9 record and did not make the tournament. Not much success in the A10. If they are decidedly...

Mississippi senator proposes bill closes three Mississippi public schools

Here in Michigan, the small, private schools are under duress. NAIA private Concordia just eliminated all athletics and that will robs LT won’t be enough to save them. Some think U of M Flint might close within the decade.

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

Interesting opinion from a lawyer on the Virginia board. Says the ACC enforcement of their GOR might be difficult. Not sure what affiliation the person has so there might be some bias if the are either FSU or wanting to leave the ACC...

Fox - Big East exclusive negotiating window

If the majority of the football schools leave, this would be awesome! UConn would have a football home and still have great basketball games against their current Big East opponents. Throw in Duke and some traditional rivalries and thus will be a hit. It would be the best basketball conference...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

Why do you think FSU would go after unequal revenue? The reason for unequal revenue is to bring teams closer to what the top paying conferences are making. They would be in one of the top paying conferences so no need to push for unequal revenue sharing. As far as making the playoffs, why would...

ESPN contract with ACC only guaranteed until 2027

I have said this before, but I believe that outside of ND, UNC is the top get for the SEC outside of the Big10. New territory in a southern state, basketball name and a great academic school. Virginia would be good add for them, but UNC is a home run addition. Texas and Oklahoma were the best...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

Yes, they do. I knew I was forgetting some one. I personally would put them as #4, but I don’t think the Big10 sees it that way. I think they have them tied with or slightly below Miami.

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

If you have FSU, you have the eyeballs and access to superb athletes. I guess you can double down in Florida, but FSU is already a huge name. If Miami were to be admitted to the Big10, they would have by far the smallest population, by several thousand students. Could it happen? Yeah, especially...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

I’m still skeptical they will have a seat. It’s possible, but I just don’t see how they would be additive to the Big10 and SEC. Unless it’s about planting a flag in Miami and the Big10 wants to recruit athletes and general population students there.

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

Of course they’re not. They need each other to go where they want to. The idea of the Big10 locking down the DC area with the 2 Virginia schools doesn’t make sense to me. They don’t add anything they don’t already have. FSU is a much better prospect for the Big10 than the SEC. I don’t buy the...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

I’m not sure locking down DC is a priority. Locking down LA was a thing, but I believe it was because Fox and ESPN wanted to damage the PAC. You can’t kill the SEC by taking 2 Virginia schools. There are only a few spots left in the BIG and I believe FSU has one of them. UNC and ND will have...

    Non-Key Tweets

A big East with Duke, Syracuse, BC, Pitt and maybe NCST would be fun. They all are fairly local and there would be existing rivalries there. You would need 2 more local teams to get to 8 football schools. I’m not sure you would want the Cali teams or SMU, but the alternatives would be UMass...

What is the end game in a P2 world?

But for some, the dream was never there. Almost all MAC fans know they aren’t winning a championship. With the 6 auto bids, in the 12 team playoff, it gives G5 teams a chance to be apart of the tournament. In 10 years, only 1 G5 team was ever in the 4 team championship (Cincinnati). This year...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

This. I also believe that FSU wants to market to a greater audience. While the games with SEC schools would work, a conference that stretches from heavy population centers of NY/NJ to DC through the Midwest (where many say young people are looking to get out) to the heavy population centers of...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

I’m not convinced on Virginia at all. This round seems to be about football first and market second. Virginia just doesn’t fit the bill. Football just isn’t UVA’s thing. If they were solely looking at academics and research, Stanford and Cal would have been locks to join. They both have better...

OT: Florida State to sue ACC over GOR

That is not a good article. It claims FSU won’t get into the Big10 due to AAU status, but says that Clemson is a dark horse to the Big10 despite its lack of AAU membership. Doesn’t make sense. Just my opinion, but I think outside of ND, FSU is the Big10’s top target.

Couldn’t tell you. If the deal was done improperly, it was done improperly and the ACC is screwed. Doesn’t matter who knew when.
