That was a long time ago.
Since then OK has left Ok St, UW left Wash St & Oregon left Oregon St.
Politics didn’t stop any of those moves and is unlikely to stop any future ones.

I’m guessing the other events like Maui will have to start paying as well. This is getting insane!
Notre Dame just extended w NBC thru 2029. Details not released but this says it’s around $50MM/year.

Who is financing all this expansion?
Th B12 tried to add Calford and were told by ESPN/FOX there was no money to finance it. So instead they went to the ACC where they are getting a fraction of what their “conference mates” are making.
Even if the ACC loses a couple schools ( I don’t believe...
With today’s announcement that the CFP has agreed to an extension exclusively with ESPN , FOX may have some cash available that was earmarked for the CFP.
FOX has spent a ton of money on college sports since then financing a piece of B12 expansion and most of B1G expansion.
How much do they have left in their budget?
There has always been some stink around the ACC/Raycom deal with Swofford and his son involved.
If there are communications showing that Swofford insisted on Raycom getting a piece of the ACC deal, it could be the smoking gun FSU can use to blow it all up.
You are correct.
The B1G saw more value in playing additional conference games rather than play the Gavitt games and FOX apparently agreed.
Yet somehow you don’t see this as a negative
And FOX just stretched its budget by paying for a piece of the B12 expansion & is paying for most of the Oregon Washington move to the B1G.
How much money do they have left to spend in college sports?
You would think that Calford made the same pitch to the B1G that they made to the ACC about coming in at a reduced rate and the B1G passed.
Why would they want to add them in the future at a full share? Having 4 Western schools is plenty to enable non-football scheduling. Adding them doesn’t...
All of that was accomplished while a member of the Big East and in a different time with regards to transfers & NIL.
Could JC have accomplished all of that with todays rules playing a random independent schedule?
And it’s only going to get worse.
Currently the kids are getting paid thru the guise of NIL. Very soon they will be receiving payment directly from the schools.
The NCAA is done. We will end up with multiple “entities” that will oversee college athletics. The SEC & B1G will set the...

The NCAA is on life support. The day when schools start paying players is quickly approaching

This has always been the problem.
The conferences that make the most money from the tourney are still only making a fraction of the $1B being paid by the networks.
At some point, likely sooner than later, the P4...
This is what schools with money that care about football do.
Rutgers fired their OC last yr with over $1MM owed to him & hired a new one for $1.2MM.
I know they have B1G money and we don’t but at some point UConn needs to figure this out. We have no DC and an incompetent OC. You cannot...
Because football has already removed itself from the NCAA.
The CFP doesn’t share a dime of revenue with the NCAA. All of the money goes back to the conferences/schools.
Basketball money is the next step in the cash grab. My guess is they will create something similar to football. It will be...
