https://www.mercurynews.com/2024/03/26/pac-12-legal-affairs-what-the-negotiated-settlement-means-for-wsu-osu-and-the-10-departing-members/ “Another provision designed to protect the outbound schools: if the PAC-12 conference desolves before August 2026, all 12 current members will share the...

Just to be clear- OSU and WSU aren’t choosing to be Independent. In fact, they’re actually contractually obligated to rebuild the Pac-12 to at least an 8 team league by 2026 given the settlement they reached this week with the old PAC-12 schools. They’re not even Independent this year or next...

    Boston Thursday Roll Call

Vivid Seats is great and almost always cheaper- highly recommend. Have used them 20+ times with no issues. Also keep an eye on Red Zone tickets (link here) for tix to Boston + any future ticket needs- they are locally owned and have a ton of deals day of for all sorts of national events. Have...

I tend to agree with this…. If we go back to back you can offer a SMU/Cal/Stanford like deal to both the Big 12 and ACC and see if either has the balls to take you up on it

This may be the first time I’ve ever seen a national media person actually put onto paper that UConn made infinitely more sense than Cal, Stanford, and SMU. Kudos to Matt.

“We spend enough to be competitive” is relative and I would pretty easily argue that 2 bowl games in 12 years says that we do not spend enough to be competitive with our existing schedules.

Anyone in college sports media and administration, including Athletic Directors as recently as last year from the Big 12

You know as well as I do that the bar always shifts when it comes to us: Them: “UConn spends more on men’s basketball than it does on football” Us: “Yeah but we spend more on football than anyone else in the G5” Them: “Yeah but you do that through a subsidy generated by massive student fees...

How has Houston, Cincinnati, James Madison, Tulane, UTSA, etc etc etc competed in football without being in a big conference? Don’t just give me “well geography!” - they are paying coaches at the top top end of the G5 and have made an administrative commitment to being good in football. Tulane...

In the last three seasons, Kansas has beaten both Oklahoma at home (2023) and Texas on the road (2021). They pay their football coach $7M annually in base salary. I am about 99% sure that Lance Leipold makes more than our entire coaching staff budget. They also have a strong enough NIL program...

Astonishing how many people have no idea how this whole process works given what has happened to us the last 12 years. Nobody is leaving the existing P4 for the Big East. And we will leave as soon as we can. UConn fans are the only ones trying to find a place for all of the BE teams in the...

UConn will still play basketball games at MSG regardless of the conference they are in.

Btw- I am still firmly in the UConn Big 12 camp. Obviously have to take the invite if it comes, but screw those people in the ACC. Horrendously run and have been for 30+ years.

Will there ever be a higher end option (think $1k+) for more exclusive in-person events?

    Where is our commissioner?

It’s like $360k a year for however long a NCAA credit lasts. People act like it’s this major windfall, add it all up and it’s not even a quarter of the buyout of what we would’ve owed Ollie had we just paid him the first time. Basically like when you work one of those corporate jobs and someone...

To be clear, I raised that as another example showing her lack of proactivity/highlight her reactiveness, not turn it into a COVID debate

Is Big East Expansion complacency costs its teams NCAA bids?

St Louis is the obvious choice for many of the reasons you stated above, plus they’ve already been in the same league with almost all of the teams around them in the BE already at some point or another in previous conference iterations People just don’t like to hear it because they’re clearly...

    Where is our commissioner?

Not to mention, the Big East was the only one on that Thursday in March of 2020 to actually tip-off a basketball game when COVID became a thing. Every other major conference + AAC cancelled their conference tournaments leading up to the games Thursday morning and the Big East still played a half...

UConn #1 Overall Seed - Impressive In 3 Bid League

EXTREMELY impressive were the #1 OVR seed in a 3 bid league. Not a ton of quality win opportunities but we just absolutely dominated everyone all year and earned this as a result. Now to win 6 more!!!
