    UConn (only) recruiting (only) speculation

Chen has more experience than KK. I think they can share some minutes. Having Chen allows KK to develop more slowly. I know that Geno won’t promise PT, but I don’t think we get Chen if she expects only 15 minutes or so. Paige may start the season at SG if Azzi is not 100%. If Kaitlyn wants...

    Jordan Brand Classic - 4/21/24

A few thoughts after watching the replay ... Morgan played a lot and looked really good. The best court vision and passer on the floor. I think she shot about 2-7 from the floor (a three, a layup, a block, and a couple of airballs) but 8-9 on FTs. She had at least 6 or 7 assists and could...

For folks who don't know, Bean is in 8th grade and 6'6". An absolute mega recruit.

    Catching up with Asjha Jones

One of the best Huskies not to make it on the Wall. But she does have an Olympic gold!

    Geno's Comments on Recruits

Thanks. I think that was from an interview. I don't recall seeing a formal statement on the UConn site, nor do I recall any comments from Geno on Sarah.

    Geno's Comments on Recruits

In past years, once our incoming freshman class was finalized, Geno put out public statements on each player's skills, personality, etc. I don't recall any statements last fall, after Morgan and Allie signed their LOIs. I assumed it was because we still had offers out to Sarah Strong and Emely...

Nika and KK both attending Kelsey Plum camp

I think Nika is possibly 2-3” taller than Plum. When she was introduced at the draft, Rebecca called her a “big guard.” I’ve seen Azzi in a “sleeve,” and she is probably able to shoot. But she’s several months away from full contact.

Should Clark be on the Olympic team?

I want to follow up on Cat's point, as I've also been to the World Cup in 2014 and 2018, plus the Olympics in 1996 and 2012. First, some of the foreign teams are badly underestimated. Some of the talent has played in the WNBA--and impressed--but many players are unknown to U.S. audiences...

Not everyone from Tennessee wants to play at Tennessee. See Crystal Dangerfield as an example. Lauren has already visited UConn.

That would be an interesting destination for Amari. I'd venture over to College Park to catch a game or two.

Ivanna has been to campus at least once. I hope to see her play next season. Bullis is about a 30-minute drive for me. I think Lauren Hassell was at First Night.

    Coach Thibault, on Aaliyah

Shak Austin was an excellent pick. The jury is still out on Soares. He picked Olympian Ariel Atkins and Myisha Hines-Allen. He got Natasha Cloud in the 2nd round and Kahleah Copper. Kiera Leslie was probably a miss, but most of his first-rounders have been good.

    WNBA Draft (merged)

I'm very happy for both Liya and Nika. Now that DC has both Stef (again) and Liya, I'll be at some Mystics games this summer. I loved the sisterhood demonstrated by several players. Several Iowa players were there to support Caitlin, and Kate Martin got drafted. Nneka, now playing for...

I wonder if Dawn bringing the entire staff was actually a turn-off, rather than a positive?

    Graduating 5

I’m guessing that Renee’s number was hung up on Senior Day/Night. She had made All-American as a Junior. Most of our All-Americans earned the honor at least twice, but their number wasn’t hung until near the end of their senior year. Maya and Paige were the only players to be AA as freshman.

Good rebounder, makes layups, shot 1-6 on FTs. Reminds me a bit of Belibi.
